This is an amazing snake hook. It is really heavy duty and everything. The handle is nice sized and it extends well. I would say it is more for larger snakes -- 4'+ because it is too clunky for my 2.5" kingsnake. He isn't a thick boy, so that's probably why. Great buy though! I will probably use it working in the field.

For the price vs the durability of is an amazingly good investment. Very durable, easy to use and store, as well as being a great size. Definitely great for bigger snakes. Works great, and made a great gift for my husband.

This telescoping snake pole is made well and pretty sturdy. The length options are great. I already have another snake hook and grabber plus a telescoping catch bag. I do not choose to handle hots, but I'm prepared to move them if needed for my family and furbaby's safety. I just pick up the non-venomous ones with my hands as I never want to hurt the snake. That's why this one will be my backup or directional hook unless I can coat the hook tip with something as it's a little too pokey for my liking. To guide or put under the body while it's already elevated wouldn't cause much issue but to use it to scoop under their body from the ground could potentially hurt them.My Review Criteria: I do not review anything that I don't want/need for my own personal use and I have enough knowledge about it to provide accurate and useful details. I love that it can be expanded for use outdoors or made a bit more compact for indoor use. It is probably a bit too sturdy for handling very small snakes but it has good versatility. The tapering of the hook is nice since it doesn't come to a sharp point.

This is a really versatile tool for snake-handling, with 3 lengths to choose from & all of them feel solid & very much in control. I'm used to using a non-collapsible hook that's 40" long (I've kept snakes for decades & have worked with numerous rattlesnakes & a few other hots for 20 years) & this one measures just over 42" at the longest, which is a perfect length, but for some snakes (or in tight quarters) one of the shorter lengths would be preferable, so this tool gets high marks for versatility. Plus, it's lightweight so it travels well & isn't so tiring to use. It's very easy to adjust, & doesn't slip, & I especially like that the handle as well as the body of the tool is triangular in shape rather than round, as it makes for the best grip -even if you get sweaty palms, lol. The hook part itself is the proper size, & the only complaint I have (& for which I deducted one star) is that the very tip of the hook should be rounded & smooth: it's not- it's tapered, then has a flattened tip, & when I run that over my hand, it's slightly abrasive, which is not what I want sliding against the soft body of a valuable snake. I'm going to try to file this some, or else maybe use some sort of coating for serpent-safety. Apart from that, this is a superb tool.
