I have had one of the Burpees self watering seedling kits (72 cells, 2 blocks of 36)) that I’ve reused for a few years, it’s still doing well but I wanted more. What I really like about these is that they are smaller, with two 9 cell blocks per tray, this is much more realistic as for home gardening you rarely want 36 of the same type of plant and if some seedlings emerge and thrive much faster than others then that becomes a nuisance trying to keep some covered under the humidity dome and not others, having to pot some on while others haven’t grown enough yet, etc. Just 9 cells per block is much more convenient.Also the domed lids are much taller with rotating vent covers. The whole kit is made from more substantial plastic than I was expecting, they look like I’ll be able to reuse them for years, and the price for 6 trays (holding 18 cells in two 9 cell blocks per tray) was much better value than the Burpees kit.The little tools are also surprisingly useful.Overall I’m really pleased with this purchase so far.

Gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because I had to tape the lids the the bottom tray to keep the moisture inside. However, I was able to plant my seeds at the end of February to prepare for Spring outdoor planting. I also purchased grow lights and placed the trays beneath them. Along with the trays and grow lights, I also start my seeds on coconut coit pellets (which I also purchased on Amazon). It's an entirely new set up.It's been 5 days and 40% of my seeds have already sprouted. I only planted seeds in 4 of the 6 trays to determine how well they worked. I'll be starting seeds in the other 2 trays this weekend. Definitely recommend.
