I chose to order this long sword carry bag by brand SOSOPORT because it was advertised as not only being for fencing, but also could be used as a backpack to carry Samurai style swords. I could only assume this meant katana swords, so I decided to give it a try, but was sadly very disappointed in the overall misleading message, but also the general quality of the product. The diameter or girth for the blade area could certainly hold a fencing blade, and it can barely squeeze a katana blade and it's sheath (or tsuba in Japanese) partially into the tight enclosure about half way. Just for fun, I even tried a cosplay lightsaber blade which has a much thinner diameter than the katana tsuba, and even it was a very tight squeeze! So unfortunately it does not fit in any way that is appropriate for carry, since the hilt of the sword is not designed for this bag, and it is simply too thick and differently proportioned than a fencing sword, so will never slide in all the way without breaking. So the idea, according to the advertising, that this is a bag for "Samurai" swords is very misleading and entirely inaccurate. On top of all this, the quality of the item is very poor. The "backpack" advertising really just means a single, thin, cheap plasti-fabric strap that can be latched together on the back of this carrying case, and the moment I opened the package, I discovered it had already started to fray at the ends, and if I want to salvage it soon, I would need to burn the ends a bit as a quick fix, but it really should not have arrived like that. Similarly, the velcro for the enclosure at the top is already starting to loosen because the stitching does not seem to be very well done either.Perhaps user experience will vary, and I think fencing enthusiasts may find a little more value from this carrying case, but as for me, it is not at all ideal for my sword collecting needs, despite the brand implying that it should be.

This case is made from synthetic Oxford fabric similar to that used in backpacks and outdoor gear, and reinforced appropriately. It seems highly durable, and fits for a standard fencing épée with a #5 blade. The case is not designed to hold multiple swords, and it might not be suitable for storing swords other than for fencing. The carrying strap seems flimsy and lacks strength. However, this is unlikely to pose a practical issue, as it's rare for this type of bag to be carried around independently.Overall, I think this is a practical and durable choice for storing a fencing sword.
