Excellent quality machine. Runs smoothly for long vacuums. It is heavy but is worth it.

This equipment is really worth its price, it is excellent and its quality is great, quite good to generate a good vacuum, previously I had a fielpiece vacuum with me but it only lasted a couple of times, I paid a lot of money for nothing, instead this really does its job.

Have used this several times now on auto AC and it pulls down very quickly.

Edit: used this today. great great, went to 250 micron. Break vac with nitrogen a few times. Then it should go pretty low. Use a dedicated vac line, bigger one. I bought a navac one.It is a true 2 stage monster. Very big, fairly fast. I wish it had metal caps, but pulled down nicely. I need to overhaul my setup and get new hoses. Vacuum rated one on the way before I report microns. Fairly quiet. I tore the vacuum side down and it's pretty well made, cast iron, jumbo rotary vein sections stacked. Nice oiler. Good machining. We'll see how it lasts. It's a bargain compared to the big names.

This 2 stage SpecStar is exactly what I needed for wood stabilizing. I tried a PBAutos single stage RS2 and it worked OK but didn’t last long. This 2 stage Specstar is a workhorse, doesn’t get hot, much quieter and pulls a better vacuum for stabilizing wood in a chamber. I feel very comfortable leaving it run for long periods when making multiple color passes. With the single stage I always worried it was going to catch fire from running so hot.I read several articles that said you didn’t need a 2 stage for wood stabilizing and they might be right about “need”, but WOW what a difference in performance it makes and the SpecStar just works GREAT. I highly recommend starting with this unit if your really want to do wood stabilizing and can really get hooked especially if you start using dyes to create some colorful woods for turning.

This was to replace another pump that was actually slightly smaller. I didn't use it much at first. At first it worked Ok, but then after a while it started spilling oil all over the place. I should have returned it then, but I figured it was something I did wrong. I cleaned it up, verified everything put in proper oil to the proper level and it did the same the next time I used it. So not I missed the return window because I got busy on other things and so I lose my money for a pump that is useless. Wish I paid the extra $125.00 over this one and replaced the first pump with the original type... sometimes cutting costs is more expensive.
