The quality control where these guitars are made needs a major improvement. First one I got has a dead note on high e string, 6th fret. Returned and was replaced with a new one, but a problem on one of the machine heads on lower E, you will hear a click on every turn and the tension is broken and will not tune. Amazon has an awesome customer service in the Philippines which make things right. Once you got a working Squier CV Bass VI, you'll love it. All I mod is the string - replaced the stock with StringJoy for Bass VI and it now has a good sound and playability.

La boite de transporte était coupée en deux et le corps de la guitare était endommagé par un choc important.

Out of the box, please get the .100 strings by Fender (if you want rounds) or the 95's from La Bella (if you want flats). I mounted the Fender set and the guitar intonates perfectly. The strings this is delivered with are .084's and the low E will wiggle too much for its own good. This guitar features much larger strings than a standard six-string guitar (as you know) but it still sports regular vintage Fender tuning machines. This is acceptable, but you'll find the tuner thumbscrews are a little small for the force needed and they're very close to each other. Fat fingered players take note. The vintage tuners are stressed with the larger strings. Mine broke a gear almost immediately when I put the new strings on. Click - slack - click - slack - broken.I contacted Fender and all they wanted was my receipt and they sent me a whole new set of tuning machines (very generous!), but I also had purchased some Gotoh tuners which I'll try soon.BTW if you have a broken gear, try what I did - get a slotted head screwdriver and put it in the groove and turn the tuning peg while turning the thumbscrew and you can get past the broken gears and continue - as long as the "in tune" position has intact gears you should be okay; it will tune to pitch and stay that way.All this for a brand new instrument? Is it worth the trouble?Oh yea. This guitar is a real pleasure. She's a stallion in a barn full of regular, boring old guitar donkeys. If you're a guitar player looking to lay down some bass lines, look no further. You now have a new hobby! What fun it is to get grooving on those low strings! When set up well, this guitar is a blast to play!

I am having to rethink how to approach playing this instrument. Really amazing. Fret work great. Needed a quick truss rod adjustment but otherwise perfect. So comfortable to play. Heavy (but not too heavy) and solid feel. Great sounding pickups. I have 14 guitars and 35 years of playing.

First, like all other reviews (pretty much) I'll start off by saying - This instrument comes in a pallet box from the factory and isn't double packed at all whatsoever. The box itself is stapled securely and made of thick cardboard but that's all that is protecting your guitar. There's next to no foam and only two cardboard braces in the box.My box arrived with a small hole in the back, which I assume also lead to a heckin deep chip in the back. It's small enough and in the back that I won't bother replacing the instrument but this isn't a gamble people should have to take on a 700$ CAD thing. The guitar is reasonably setup, no intonation issues, electrics all function well. The choke switch is more aggressive than I thought, but that's not a gamebreaker by any means. It plays very well, sounds great and looks awesome (from the front)I give it a 4/5. There is some high action that can be adjusted out and the colour is more tobacco burst than sunburst. It looks fantastic for what it is, but I was hoping for more sunshine.I would however suggest warehouse direct pickup on this if you can. Amazon should really have better QA on its packaging rules. Instruments are expensive and not double packaging them is a sin.

The Squier VI is something else. A very unique sound on a beautifully made bass. Classic vibe is in my opinion, spot on. The Beatles used it on many songs.

Ou of the box it had no defects, shipped well. Needed to be tuned up but that’s about it. I will take it in for a setup but that’s just for minor adjustments. All in all a good instrument. Being a bass player I will say that it plays more like a guitar than a bass, but not a negative thing at all.

I can't believe the flimsy box Amazon allowed this instrument to be shipped in. It was the original box from Indonesia that would have been stacked with many others on a pallet, which would be safe for that purpose, but not suitable for single shipping. The box was torn, dinged, and forlorn looking on my front doorstep, so I expected the worst. Sure enough there were two major dings through the finish, one on the back and one on the edge where other items in transit had crashed into it. Amazon agreed to give me a 25% refund in lieu of returning it for a replacement, and for this I can perform the repairs myself and save some additional $$. This is worth it for me, but not for everyone, and it's still disappointing not to have a perfect finish. All that said, the parcel came in three days and I do like the instrument. It had other issues, of course, being a Squier. Mine was not properly grounded and a wire inside the switch cavity was not attached. I spent lots of time getting it to intonate properly, but finally got it. I also darkened the laurel fretboard using multiple washes with black India ink, so that it now closely resembles the dark Rosewood of the '60s originals, a truer match for the vintage vibe of the instrument. The switch plate was sunk slightly below the pickguard, which I didn't like. Probably because this is a 4-ply pickguard and the plate is designed for 3-ply. I made a shim out of a credit card to bring it flush and it looks way better. Overall, it now looks and sounds great! I've ordered the slightly beefier Labella flat wound strings, and eventually I'll probably get some Gotoh locking vintage tuners to replace the Squier ones. All in all, I'm looking forward to years of enjoyment with this Bass VI instrument and its unique capabilities.

you will need to do some technical stuff to the instrument to be top notch, but with not much work its a GREAAATTTT buy !!! cant be any more happy, the instrument came without any scratches or imperfections, and it even got here earlier than expected. all the things that a squire instrument lacks in comparison to a fender instrument, this one does. so if you buy this be ready for some upgrades

My negatives, first:Amazon sent me a damaged Bass VI, at first. It had a deep gauge at the top of the headstock, about the size of a large flat-head screwdriver. It was deep enough to penetrate the finish, gauging into the wood.Amazon sent me a replacement before I had even returned the damaged one.A second negative is again aimed at Amazon, and that is that they do not package guitars for shipment very well. They ship in the same boxes that they receive from the factories. Asian cardboard is notoriously flimsy. Both the damaged guitar, and its replacement, arrived in boxes that were damaged, and torn open, in places, during shipping.I will say that I don't believe that Amazon was at fault in shipping me the damaged guitar: although I stated that the box was damaged, the torn open portion was NOT anywhere near the headstock, but near the bottom. This tells me that the guitar was damaged at the factory, in Indonesia, and shipped out, anyhow. The replacement was undamaged, although the shipping box was also torn open, near the bottom.I have purchased guitars from other online sellers- they typically place the boxes I've described, above, inside larger, sturdier boxes for shipping. I've never received damaged guitars from other retailers (zZounds is excellent!); this is the 3rd damaged guitar I've received from Amazon. As for the guitar, I love it! And yes, I refer to it as a guitar, although it is technically a 6-string bass guitar. It's one octave lower than a standard guitar, but plays just like a standard guitar, same chord shapes, etc.. It has thicker strings, which require specific replacement, but if you've already got calluses, there's no issue there.I have to talk myself into putting it down, after playing for over an hour. It really sounds funky, thick and low, and is fun to play.I also own an ESP Baritone guitar, which is also tuned lower than a standard guitar, but not a whole octave. It's nice, but not fun: it lacks funkiness. The Bass VI is funky.I read some negative reviews, mostly regarding construction, but I was not wary enough to stay away. Glad I didn't.If you order one, inspect it immediately, and closely. But you may well end up with a cool Bass VI, and love it, too.If you get one with issues, get Amazon to replace it, immediately. They're good about that.I think they only order about 20 at a time, from Fender. They were out for awhile until just before Christmas. That being the case, they might not have a replacement for you, but issue a refund. If that happens, go over to zZounds site, order from them. Same price. Better interest-free financing, too (Amazon: 5 months, zZounds: 12 months interest-free!)
