Great product for a DIY outdoor fireplace. Once you figure out how to install it in your custom setup, it's very easy to use and produces a nice high flame. Have not tested it long-term but it appears well made.

18in natural gas ring used in converted 22in square tapered iron basin (wood) fire pit. Filled with extra lava rock (or whatever non combustible lightweight material you have) up to ring to stabilize in basin. Then fire glass on top just enough to hide ring. I did a 4/1 ratio of silver reflective to amber. 20lbs of 1/2in glass total. Table has 8 in of usable surface for drinks & they don't seem to get heated using the outer half. I made sure to keep the ring & covering glass below the surface as there is a convenient flush cover that keeps debris & rain out (drains around outer ring.)Needed to use a 6in nipple & coupler from the bottom of ring out the hole drilled in pit basin. Discarded the black hose & used 24ft 3/8in steel braided hose. Added a 3/8 quick disconnect to both ends in case of easier relocation. I get up to 8in flames with whatever psi my outdoor line has. I would assume propane throws bigger ones. But NG is cheaper & more convenient in the long run if you have the option. NG is lighter too so it seems there's already plenty aeration. Propane would need bottom venting.Remember to match your connections properly npt vs flare. Npt needs dope or min 4 wraps gas tape & flare fittings nothing (it's direct contact compression). When you have the line void of air, close the key valve to the ring off to pressurize the line & use your atomizer bottle of 8oz water & tablespoon of dawn to spray all the connections and check for bubbles (leaks).Ok, time to relax...

I don't have much to say; this product delivers on its promise, and it's very easy to set up. It has been outside all summer, exposed to the rain, and it still works perfectly without a speck of oxidation.

After reading some of the reviews I was hesitant about purchasing this product. But using the right materials and tools this works great. Some people said that it makes a whistle sound when the flame is on ? ... I don't hear no annoying sound or whistle. Of course you have to make sure to put pipe dope on all the fittings and secure them properly. Anyways I'm happy with this and my kids love it!

Installed one of these in an existing wood-burning fire pit - now we use it all the time and don't end up smelling of smoke. Highly recommended.

Wife here using my hubby's account: I bought this to install in a concrete block fire ring, as opposed to wood burning. We went down to the hardware store to get blocks to make a fire pit, leveled out the dirt, placed the blocks, with a little trench for the propane line to run out underneath to the tank (which we hid in one of those propane tank covers that we got at Target and will use it as a side table next to our adirondack chairs), filled the pit most of the way with lava rock while holding the ring kit in place, then we will add decorative glass beads for the last few inches to cover the ring itself once they arrive. The propane burner ring kit was super easy to put together, install, & works really well, but one big (HUGE) downside is that the flex line is not whistle free. I highly suggest replacing the flex line (the one with all the corrugated ridges) between the key and the burner ring fittings with a whistle free line, as we will be doing very shortly. We are able to adjust the gas down using the red knob regulator thing so that it doesn't whistle, but the flame isn't very high. When the propane is cranked up the high pitch whistle kills the ambiance of sitting by the fire. We also used additional propane/gas line tape when threading everything together to make sure the lines didn't leak. Other than that, all the parts are great quality and worth the price. This would get 5 stars if it was whistle free.I'll add pictures once the decorative glass is added.
