Where to start?PROS: Double-boxed shipping. Matte finish on the body and neck making for smooth sliding on the neck. String spacing is tight, optimized for pick playing. Integrated tuner and 3-band EQ. Preamp volume is very good. Gig bag included!CONS: The strap button under the neck joint hinders playing access above the 14th fret. I moved the button to the white plastic area covering the neck joint. Much better.SUMMARY: I installed a rubber sound hole cover that fit perfectly. It eliminates feedback and also looks very cool. I'm also installing DR Phosphor Bronze (6-string set) and using the E-A-D-G-C strings tuned accordingly. The B string never cuts it for me on an acoustic bass guitar, and the high C gives me an extended melodic range. Try it out.For $200 bucks, you can't beat it and I'd match it up against any acoustic bass guitar costing twice as much. The bass is designed in the U.S. and built in China. I couldn't find any flaws in the craftmanship. Well done Tario!

I took the advice of the prior reviewers and immediately put on D'Addario Nylon tapewound strings. The orignal strings were round and very noisy against the fretless board. These strings give it a nice mellow bass sound. I am going to play this in a bluegrass band and I think it will be just perfect for that use.

It’s a total value for money. Good sound quality and easy to play and practice for beginner fretless bass players.

This is a review for the fretless bass. A previous reviewer mentioned the fretboard had slots milled into it where the frets would initially be --but the one I received has a smooth, real fretless neck with no slots (or markings of any sort) -so they upgraded that, it appears. This is a great deal for an inexpensive fretless acoustic electric bass. It's nothing fancy but is exactly as described and you can't find anything remotely similar in this price range.

I paid $200 + $20 S&H for this - it arrived within a week, and was well packaged (box containing a box containing a gig bag containing a protective sleeve containing the instrument). It included a gig bag, truss rod wrench, and an instrument cable, which weren't advertised, so that was a nice value. The instrument is clean, and appears well made with no obvious defects except as noted below. There are several small cosmetic issues that aren't even worth noting - I'm not upset about them. The only flaw in this bass is that the fretboard is not smooth - there are slots where the frets would have gone. A proper fretless instrument will not have slots in the fretboard. Probably they make fretted and fretless versions of this in a factory somewhere, and they just sell these after the slots are cut into the fretboard wood but not placed. The end result is these small gaps in the fretboard, which can lead to some issues when playing. I could have bought a 100 dollar fretted bass and removed the frets myself - I wanted to buy a proper fretless and avoid doing this. The body is much smaller than a Dean 5 string (Dean's are huge, so this isn't an issue). The nut width is 1.75", same as a Dean, but the string spacing at the bridge is ~2.25" compared to 3" on the Dean and my electric 5 string. The result of this is that the strings feel pretty cramped when you're playing it.The strings that came on this are round wounds. If you have owned fretless instruments, you know that these are bad for the neck and will wear into the wood, which will require eventual repair. To avoid this, you need to buy roundwound strings, which cost $40-$50, so that's an extra cost that should be factored into this purchase. After playing this for only a few minutes with the stock strings, I can see wear on the fretboard.Electronics work fine. Has a neat on-board tuner, and sounds good when plugged in.Because of the string spacing and slots in the frets, I'm not really satisfied, and I may return this one and buy a $100 fretted 4 string and defret it myself, which will still require me to buy flatwound strings. For $200, its still a good deal though.
