I bought this as a gift for my Father and he really enjoyed it. He also said that the disc was so long that it lasted to work and back (around an hour and a half total!). Very pleased with my purchase.

What can be said about Buddy Guy that hasn't already been said, his guitar playing is among the best and his voice is as strong and bluesy as it always has been. Keep them coming and I will always purchase them.

Arreglos y produccion perfectos. VIVA EL BLUES !

Well it is that time again, the last great blues man Buddy Guy has returned and with him, a brand new album. This is his eighteenth full length studio album, The Blues Is Alive and Well.Over the years, Buddy Guy has shown himself to be quite the resilient individual. He has lived longer than most and has continued to do what he has loved in the process. Despite his advancing age, he shows no signs of slowing down and sounds quite alive on this record. The man still manages to lay waste to most musicians not just with his incredible voice, but his electric guitar playing. He shows no sign of age and sounds just as good as he did twenty years ago and better than he did over thirty years ago.The Blues Is Alive and Well could easily be considered more of the same. It is very much in the same vein as his previous release, Born To Play Guitar. Much like that release, this record holds nothing particularly new or ground breaking. But it does hold over an hours worth of some of the best played blues we'll probably hear this generation and a very tasty funk number. On the album there is a fine mix of R&B influenced rock songs, the traditional blues shuffles and the mandatory soulful slow numbers. Everything that a Buddy Guy fan could want and then some.I felt the album itself could have been a little shorter. The album is a good hour and five minutes long, though it doesn't feel it. However, I did find that the slow numbers (which are quite lengthy) do drag the album out a little by slowing the momentum. It's not to my taste, but I prefer short and snappy albums. Regardless of this issue, the album is great to listen to for the most part and I can't imagine there will be many fans out there who will have a complaint with this record. Buddy Guy does what he says he does and that is playing the blues. He does it extremely well and I would highly recommend this album for lovers of the genre.Published by Steven Lornie of Demonszone
