Overall I liked the product. It seems overbuilt and I can confirm that the butyl seals don't leak. I am almost done building my pergola all by myself. I only have the purlins and the roofing left. Some constructive criticism that may make this product easier to use;1 Instead of through bolting the roof beam, incuding some Simpson APDJT2-4 Ornamental deck joist ties and some of the washers and 2 and 3.5 inch lag screws might make a more secure connection and be much easier to install. Drilling straight through 7.5 inches of material while on a sloped roof can be difficult for the DIYer. Also finding a long 9/16ths drill bit isn't easy. Most hardware stores don't stock them.2. I did not see anything in the instructions about red locktiteing the nuts and no locktite or even lockwashers were included. Since the lumber used will be treated wood, it will shrink overtime. Using a strong threadlocker is important.3. The 4x8 blocking can be hard to find. I was not able to find a 4x8 locally. No lumber yard or hardware store had one. I used a 4x6 with a 2x4 nailed and glued with liquid nails. Consider alternatives to 4x8 blocking.4. Recommend using SPAX powerlags or similar to attach the blocking. A Diyer might not be aware such a thing exists. They are much easier to use in tight spaces than a hex head lag screw.5. Tell the installer that they need to measure to make sure that the center of the blocking will line up with the center of the portion of the shingle they want the base of the roof riser to attach to. I am sure this will be viewed as common sense by pros but a Diyer may not think of it and simply try to install the blocking as pictured in section 2 of the blocking installation page.6 Ask an experienced pergola installer to make a video about how he does birdsmouth cuts for pergolas while using your product. I had issues using your instructions due to the lack of straitness of the treated wood resulting in using one rafter to be a template for the others to be an exercise in futility. That's all for now. Thanks.

A good solution when you want to avoid many columns to support a roof or cover area. I covered the space between my house and garage with great results.
