Bought this for my sibling (who is not overly mechanically-inclined) a while ago, because they tend to not drive their car during the winter, and the long inactivity had resulted in having to buy a replacement battery for their car multiple years in a row come spring-time.I'll admit, I bought it for selfish reasons. As I said, my sibling is not mechanically-inclined. So when it came time to replace the battery each spring, it was ME that would have to do the switch. I didn't want to do that any more. So I bought this. This winter, once again, my sibling pretty much only used their car twice. But because of this, they were able to "disconnect" their battery themselves and "reconnect" it (by loosening and tightening the dial, respectively) when spring came around. So it's a win-win for the both of us. They didn't have to dump a bunch of money down the drain for a replacement battery each year, and I didn't have to do the switch-out. It's a simple thing, but it's a good thing, that works well.

I recently discovered a parasitic draw in my vehicle, so bad in fact that it would drain a fully charged battery overnight.I have spent thousands trying to rectify the situation but to no avail.Who knew that an $8 item would be the answer I needed! Easy to install and operate! Took care of my battery drain problem!

I've used several of these over the years, they are a cheap way to deter would be thieves if they try to steal your ride, however one of the main reasons I use them is they help keep my battery alive for many years as the truck I use it in is usually stored outside and does not get drove very often so using this keeps drains and draws from depleting my trucks battery.Over time the plastic shield between the two pieces get soft and wares out which results in requiring a new terminal but at $10.00 it's no big deal and I usually get around 5-8 years per switch i know people that spend more than that per day on coffee.Overall very happy with these universal master kill switches and recommend them to anyone looking for a cheap way to kill power to thier vehicle.

I found that in my 06 Toyota Matrix it didn't fit well on my battery and it would cut power off to my car sometimes while driving. Works fine in my wife's 2015 Santa Fe.

Nice quality units. Very easy to fit, less than five minutes once bonnet is up! Works well, switches on and off easily. Arcs a little when switched on as expected so with prolonged use may need cleaning on contact surfaces. Don’t over-tighten battery terminals or it may snap or damage when fitting. Keep it clean so no electrical tracking can take place which would cause slow discharge of battery. Make sure that there is room for it to fit next to the battery. Only fits on the negative terminal, makes it a little safer for DIY fitters when using a spanner near the battery, -presuming negative ground vehicles! Should increase life of battery as a good battery will only need a top-up charge occasionally. Definitely slows discharge times.Wish I had found these years ago instead of taking the terminal off every time!!

I installed this on my 1968 Pontiac Parisienne Convertible, as I put the car away for the winter and did not want anything draining my battery. This car has top terminals on the battery, but it if had side terminals (like some of my other older GM cars) it would not have worked. The "on" and "off" is easy to do with the turn of the knob.Just remember that if your car has pre-programmed functions, like stations on the radio, you'll lose them all when you turn off the power.

Fairly good, and good value. The green twist knob will evantually crack and break if past expereince is a guide, but the isolator will still work, you'll just need a tool for the bolt head, instead of your hand.Check that the orientation of this is going to work with your battery terminal location, but it should work in most cases.Summary: Good enough in use, and inexpensive.

I will be returning this item.Very flimsy design. If you look at the item's picture, there are two electrically isolated pieces of metal, one that connects to the battery, and other to your battery cable. The "switch", the green handle that is the top of a bolt, threads directly into the piece of metal that connects to your battery cable. If you tighten it all the way down, the head of the bolt makes contact with the piece of metal that connects to your battery, thereby completing the circuit. The weak part of the design is that this bolt is also the only thing that keeps these two pieces of metal together. If there is ANY force applied to battery cable side, the attached piece of metal goes "cockeyed", and the bolt goes on an angle, and the head makes contact and the circuit is now closed, even though you loosened the bolt. Loosen it more, it goes even more cockeyed, and it still makes contact. Loosen it just a bit more, and the bolt pops out, and you now have three pieces rather than just one. Sure, you can put it back together, but why, given that it does not even work in the first place? My caravan has factory cables that are just long enough to reach the battery. I had to flex the cable around a bit in order to get it to connect to this device, but being heavy gauge wire, it has a bit of a "pull" on it. Overall, it made for a situation that makes it not work.Another odd thing. My first attempt found that I could not disconnect the battery, apparently due to the problem outlined above. So I took it off, and measured resistance with my meter. Even totally removing the bolt, and just measuring the resistance between the (supposedly) two isolated pieces of metal with a plastic insulator between them showed about 20k Ohms of resistance. Sure, not zero, but it should be much higher than that. This is not the reason that I am returning it, as the other problem is much bigger, but it makes you wonder about its practicality.Sure, it is cheap, but given that I just wasted a bit of time on something that is going back, it definitely was not worth it. Perhaps for some situations, just definitely not mine.I will be looking for a better solution.
