I've been using this in a router table for a few years now and it works very well. Bit changes and height adjustment are easy. It's loud, but has lots of power.

Maybe 5 stars for hand held use but 1 star for table use. it has some nice features including a sort of real time plunge depth adjustment and a dust port. Reliability (see below) might be an issue.I’ve never even put a bit in it.I bought a TRA001 for table mount to save the cost of adding a lift. The idea is to use the plunge function to raise and lower it in a table. Note that you must be able to drill your mounting plate in the precise location of the micro winder for the crank to pass trough.I also added a remote power switch so I wouldn’t have to go under the table to reach the power switch. In other words, with the lift and remote switch I didn’t want to crawl under the table anymore. Then I encountered the Triton “safety” switch. To lift the router high enough to access the collet to change bits, I still had to reach under the table to switch it off. So …1. The convenience of the remote switch was thereby defeated. I understand Triton has introduced “NVR” on more recent models to remedy this. Too late for me. You can also perform as I did, a hack online with instructions as to how to remove the switch cover which restricts the lift range. It’s a bit of work, took me about an hour, but problem solved. Well, then there’s the lock issue.2. After setting it back in the table I noticed the micro winder crank turning with vibration when I ran the router for a test. I had nearly bought a Rockler lift before I saw reviews mentioning the same thing happening in those lifts as they use only tension springs to hold the cut depth. The Triton locks, but again, only by reaching the lock under the table.3. The Triton then died. It ran nice and smooth while testing it, quieter than I anticipated (now totally silent). Power switch light is on but nobody’s home. I just finally set it in a table without yet ever using it and now I have to ship it back to them to fix it. They sent me a service form. I think not. I think I’ve had it.It’s sitting on a shelf now, a $250 (plus $70 Rockler plate) mistake I’m writing off for now. Maybe I’ll get back to it later if I need to carve timbers or something (it’s a beast), but for now it’s a big door stop. There’s no warranty because it had been sitting in storage since purchase a couple of years or more. I was just now getting to setting it up.Since I already have a much lighter weight Dewalt 818 with plunge base and a smaller Makita 1/4” machine, I decided to buy a Bosch 1617 fixed base while it was offered at $149, and a JessEm lift for $219. Remote switch works as hoped, the lift raises fully and locks depth from the top. No unpleasant bending!I paid $249 for the Triton which is now about $310 plus $70 for the plate, $320 then, $380 now. The Bosch/JessEm combo is $370. Knowing what I know now, I would have gladly paid the extra $50 (now -$10) for the full, above table functionality I had thought I would be getting with the Triton. If staying above table is important and you really need the 3HP, which I’m guessing 75% or more of woodworkers do not, there are Woodpecker or Bora and other motors out there and other JessEm or Kreg or other locking lifts to fit them. More expensive than the Triton “solution” but you’ll be happier.IMHO.

This router looked good but I am very disappointed that it's design was so poor. I have had a wood shop all of my life and have purchased 4 other routers previously. Usually when a router wears out over time it fails to hold on to the bit. This was an awful surprise. The cost of the table plus the router and with plastic components and the marketing for professional applications is shameful.

I am impressed. Very powerful and reasonable quality; should really be used in a router table. I've installed it and used it a few times now. The built in above table height adjustment works wonderfully saving many dollars of having to buy a separate unit. Also, the protective plastic housing prevents debris from spreading throughout shop. Also very quiet. I recommend this product.

I bought this to mount in a Kreg bench top router table. It is outstanding!! Plenty of power. Extremely easy to set up and the adjustments are really precise. I used it first off to make some glass panel cabinet doors that I have previously been making on my shaper. I found this to easier to set up and my results were much better than with the shaper. I had less tear out and I was able to more precisely match the the rails and stiles because of the fine adjustments and the locking mechanism on this router although I did have to feed the stock slower than with the shaper. I'm really satisfied!!I'd like to update my review after using this router for almost a year. This router combined with the Kreg bench top router table has worked out so well for me I sold my 1 1/2 hp Shaper last summer!! This is so much easier and convenient to set up as opposed to the shaper. I get much better results especially when using my cabinet door bits. Unless you are a cabinet shop needing to dedicate a shaper to specific door making applications, this is by far the better way to go. Also, router bits are half the price of shaper cutters.

I bought this router after reading many reviews online. I won't go into too much detail as there are some great reviews out there already. Suffice to say this is a powerful machine with some great features. One note - when I received mine the base plate was cracked in 2 places. I contacted Triton customer service providing them the invoice and picture of the plate and they shipped me a new one within a week. Would definitely recommend the product and the brand.

Bought it to use with a router table - the built-in lift was the main reason for this choice, and once I got it mounted, it works beautifully - powerful, convenient. It will probably stay as my "table router" since it is fairly heavy - I'm not a large person, and my hands are fairly small, so it's overly large for "hand work", but it sure does a good job of what I bought it for.

I purchased this router for use in my router table. I own a Porter Cable fixed base router and a DeWalt plunge router. I had been installing the Porter Cable in my router table anytime I had a need for table routing. I grew tired of the back and forth and reaching under for adjustments. I was intrigued by the prospect of a powerful, variable speed, router that I could leave in my table with above table height adjustments and bit changes. I came across this router on sale for $200 and could not resist. This thing is awesome! It has enough power to make deep cuts in one pass with no burrs or fuzz. The built in height adjustment is great and saves you $300 on a router lift. The above table height adjustment is convenient and saves time. I purchased this router with the aluminum pre-drilled woodpeckers table insert which was a perfect fit. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase.Pros:Powerful motorVariable Speed1/2" and 1/4" colletsAutomatic spindle lock for single tool bit changesAbove table bit changesBuilt in router lift and adjustment handle includedCons:Heavy, I agree with the other user reviews that this unit is not ideal for hand routingSpring loaded cover over On/Off switch can be annoying
