TROPICA - Japanese Camellia (Camelia japonica) - 4 Seeds
Worth knowing: The Japanese Camelia is a very traditional cultivation plant in South East Asia.
Origin: The Japanese Camelia is indigenous to South East Asia.
Propagation: Seeds can be started indoors at any time throughout year. Leave the seeds to soak in water at room temperature for about 12 hours and press them 1 cm deep into moist cultivation soil afterwards. With temperatures from 22° to 25°C the seeds will germinate after 3 to 7 weeks.
Place / Light: Any semi shade to sunny position indoors will do. From May to October, outdoor locations protected from wind are suitable as Well.
Care: Water evenly with water free of chalk but avoid waterlogging. An additional spraying of the plant is ideal. The plant should be supplied with fertilizer every 3 weeks from April until September.
Winter period: Bonsai that are supposed to produce flowers by summer need to be pruned back after having produced their first shoots. Otherwise leave the plant to produce about 6 leaves and prune it back, leaving 2 to 3 leaves.
