The switch (The switch is at the bottom of the lid) is in the "OFF" position. Push the switch to the "ON" position and allow the solar light to be charged for at least 8 hours under direct sunlight.

NOTE
If your solar light does not turn on at night, it may be caused by the following:
1. The switch is in the "OFF" position. Push the switch to the "ON" position and allow the solar light to be charged for at least 8 hours under direct sunlight.
2. Battery is not fully charged. Make sure the solar light is placed in an area where the solar panel receives the maximum amount of full direct sunlight everyday.
3.The solar light is located too close to other light sources(such as porch light or street lantern). Relocate away from external light source.
4. The rechargeable battery may need to be replaced - replace with batteries of identical specification.

I bought several of these as Christmas gifts. They were beautiful. I wish I would have bought one for myself at the time. Everyone was delighted with their gift.

This a very lovely lantern. I bought it as a gift for my 98-year-old Grandmother.My only annoyance was I had to order this twice. The level of quality control of the item being sent is obviously very low. The first lantern that arrived damaged. (The glass was cracked.) This would have been like before the item was shipped, as the lantern is very well packed and secured in lots of Styrofoam.Other than that major inconvenience, it is a lovely item and I will likely be ordering another as a gift for my Mother in law.
