I'm not sure that these are technically horse riding gloves. So if you're super serious about it, or are raising a cowboy/girl, you may want to look elsewhere. We've purchased horse back riding gloves for our daughter before & they have all had leather bottoms & a fabric upper & were good at gripping the reigns. These are still good gloves, but they are fabric all the way around with grippy rubber pieces on the palm/fingers. They look almost exactly like miniature replicas of my running gloves. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, but did want to point it out. These have a little bit of insulation on the inside so they should be warmer than traditional riding gloves (which always left our daughters hands cold in the late fall/early spring lessons).Overall these are nice gloves, and she only rides once a week, and it's not competitive or anything. I think these will last her until she outgrows them.If your child is serious about horseback riding and/or competes in them, I would think that the fabric would wear out much sooner than the leather gloves. But then again, these are pretty cheap & if you live somewhere where it gets chilly, these might still be a good option. They can also obviously be worn for other activities. Pretty much anything that doesn't involve getting the hands wet. Also, I don't think these would be good in the extreme cold (I'm basing that on my running gloves, which appear to be identical, and get cold on me once the temps dip into the teens.) But they do offer much more warmth than our daughter's old leather riding gloves.
