This remote satisfies my needs for eskate - after my TorqueBoards Nano receiver died I went looking for a cheaper 2.4 ghz remote that would pair with my VESCs. I have a diy board but these instructions should work for most vescs. I am running dual motor and dual vesc. 4 stars for the bad instructions. VanPro let me help yall out!Basically, the receiver has a programmable setting that will continuously send a signal to the vesc when the remote is disconnected.I assume this is for planes/drones such that when the receiver is out of range your plane won't just nose dive but instead climb till it is back in range.STEPS TO SET THROTTLE TRIM:1. Using a small flat head, turn the throttle trim to the maximum (counterclockwise)2. With battery power off, plug-in the receiver into vesc. Plug in the wire from the vesc to the receiver into channel 2. Plug in the bind plug into channel 4.3. Turn on the battery power. The receiver will flash blinking blue.4. Press and hold the bind button on the remote and turn on the remote. The remote will blink red until you release the bind button and both the red light and the blinking blue light on the receiver will turn solid.5. Now, using the same small flat head, turn the throttle trim clockwise till the trim is fully negated - sometimes you have to do this while holding the bind button from step 4. I cannot verify if you need to do it every time. I did not need to hold the bind button.6. IMPORTANT: Once you have set the trim to the minimum value, UNPLUG the binding plug. This unplugging action programs the receiver's "runaway" value, or the value sent when the remote is disconnected after being connected.7. At this stage you should be able to do "Setup Input Wizard" on the vesc tool like normal. I like using "Current Smart Reverse" but "Current No Reverse With Brakes" is also a good option.7b. If you want to test the runaway value (make sure that the board does not full brake nor full throttle) in the vesc input tool set center min and max, then apply, then turn off the remote. If you did it correctly, the vesc tool will report the center value when the remote is disconnected. If you did not, the vesc tool will show either max value (~1.9-2.6ms) or min value (~0.7-1.3ms)I hope this helps! Trial and error for the win!

I was worried after reading the reviews, but I have had zero issues.no drops, no bursts, nothing, it just works. This was my sons electric skateboard project. I think one thing we do different, is my son always calibrates the esc before riding. its such a quick simple step and you just know the controller knows the limits. Maybe that is why we have zero issues?!!The ESC, is a large drone esc, with brake disabled, and soft start programmed. Low batt disabled as well. So nothing special for ESC.And, let me tell ya, my boy has many miles on his board. He has almost worn a set of tires already....

The instructions aren't very well written (not great translation), but I kind of expect that at this price point. I haven't had any control issues, however every time I turn it on it goes into binding mode (it worked fine for the first week or so), but it's not too bad, I just have to turn on the controller while holding the bind button. I still wish I could get a replacement receiver, but they don't seem to sell just the receiver.

I use this product for something else . Nothing compared to any skateboard or rc car .... I did install this unit to my rv and after a extensive research of how connect this into what I need it it works like a champ ... now I can control my rv generator from the comfort of my bed or from outside .... and I don't need to go and switch anything manually.... exellent product

Throttle is very touchy and hard to ease into.Lost connection at 25mph. For a few seconds causing my board to stutter . I hit the pavement and was hospitalized. DO NOT BUY THIS REMOTE.

I bought this after breaking my Torqueboards 2.4 Ghz Nano receiver. This transmitter/receiver combo gets the job done, and works with no issues for 95% of use casesThis new one has almost identical guts, but with notable differences:+ A second channel for controlling whatever, which is great! Wish my last transmitter had this.--- The Nano receiver I used to use would default to half throttle (1500ms) when it did not have a connection with the transmitter. This one decides to go to near-full throttle when that happens (1800ms). So if the remote dies while your ridding, your board will suddenly go full throttle- Related to above, Frequently when traveling at high speed it will send non-accurate throttle values to the VESC, (ex. throttle at 75, sends 1-2 throttle values at 90%), which leads to the board twitch from the added/subtracted power. Still rideable, but very disconcerting.I haven't been injured yet from these design flaws, but I expect it to happen some day.

The remote works fine, but something about the antenna seems to pick up background 2.4G signals, causing connection to cut out very briefly every now and then. Otherwise works perfectly.

These things are are kind of “cheaply” made, but the first one I bought was twice the price and no better. The Vanpro remote works every bit as good as the old one (which failed to connect BTW). It comes with clear directions (which the old one didn’t) and the connection was quick and has been reliable under daily use. Can’t ask for more.* update I’ve been using it for a few months now. Still going strong and working perfectly. Even had a couple of crashes and it survived with just a couple of scratches. Pretty solid despite appearances.
