I bought these for my husband who prefers to use continuous reins when riding--he's an advanced beginning rider but worries about dropping reins. The 8 footers were just a little short for my 15.3 mare who has a fairly long neck and lower pleasure type headset but these were perfect. I like how they feel also; they are not leather but they have a nice soft leather feel to them.

Overall, I am happy with these reins. My horse is in training, so I wanted a continuous rein while he's figuring out steering in the arena, and then something for trail riding. He's 16hh, and I was having a hard time finding long enough reins to allow him a relaxed, ranch headset. These work well for the purpose and feel nice in my hands, but I wish they had a bit more weight/thickness to them...but that's probably just a "me" issue being used to thick, weighted split reins. I bought a second scissor snap for the other side so I can pop them on/off easily.

Nice length. No maintenance or breaking in needed like with leather reins. My horse can reach the ground to eat comfortably with out me having to reach forward. Purchased a second scissor snap so it can clip on both sides. Cant recommend weavers biothain tack enough!

The product came in fast. The leather itself is soft and supple. It did come with one hook, however, so easy to remove. The pressure was nice and responsive with even the stubbornest of horses!Highly recommend.

I have tried a few different roping reins and they are always shorter than I want for trail riding. I decided to give these a try and I love the length. I was also pleasantly surprised by how nice and soft these feel in my hands. These are my new favorite reins.

Part of me was going to order leather reins just for the sake of having leather, since it wears in so well. But I went ahead with these reins because a friend uses them and recommended them. I really love them! Even though they have only one clip, I understand why: most people will only unclip one side to lead the horse around something or temporarily tie him to something. I prefer two clips bc I like them to be even weight on both sides for the horse not to feel any difference, so I used one of my stock clips for the other side. No big deal, because at this price, and at the quality of these reins, I have no issue with them arriving with a single clip… good buy, great price.
