Yak Attack makes great products for kayaks. This backing plate will make the track I installed a lot stronger.

I got this to mount my ff on my hatch of my bonafide P127 and I also got the backing plate for it and it done well

This is a quality part but is just a bit on the pricier side for what it is. Be careful when drilling the holes to align the track with this backing plate - just a slight touch of the drill bit to the inside of a hole in backing plate may result in needing to re-tap the thread in the backing plate as all of the metals used in these kits are pretty soft.

The backing plate I received was not threaded. This is an expensive product, you would expect that Yakattack would have a quality control system to prevent this from happening. Apparently that isn't the case. The other two backing plates I received had variations in the number of threads and countersinking. Poor workmanship and no quality control. When I checked the package for the three Yakattack 12" mounting rails in the same shipment, two were missing nuts, washers and bolts. What should have been a quick install is now a burden. I have a useless backing plate and I have to buy fasteners that were supposed to be included. I'll buy from someone else in the future.

Was able to bend the track with gentle hammering (used small pieces of 2x4 to create fulcrum and to protect metal) to adapt to curve of dashboard. Should work well. Also used backing plate to support it from the inside.
