Yale/August should know that having a internet connected lock on your front door is a huge security vulnerability!I was thoroughly disappointed with the locked down echo system of this Yale product. It was advertised that this device would work with Bluetooth. For this to work you need the Yale app and an always connected internet device! The advertised auto-unlock features do not work with Bluetooth. The Bluetooth range seems to be limited to about 3 meters (9 ft).In order to pair the Bluetooth with other devices that I cannot install their app on I was forced to purchase this WiFi module. Once I installed this I was able to connect via Bluetooth. However I cannot remove this without disconnecting my Bluetooth. I am forced to be connected to the internet and therefore vulnerable to anyone who should gain access. While Yale promises a matter module but I have yet to see this happen. I am doubtful that you will be free of the Yale/August online only echo system. This is not secure. I wish I could return this!

It's nice to connect the lock to Wi-Fi and have the ability to use the features of the Yale Lock remotely. Installation & setup are simple.

With this module I needed to change my batteries every couple of months or so. Contacted Support and they told me I need to have the smart lock closer to my Wi-Fi router and there cannot be any obstacles in the wayAlthough I met those requirements, I was still facing issues. However, not everyone will have a floor plan like mine where it is open concept enough to have your door in clear line of site with your access point or wireless router. You’re better off going with a zigbee module instead. It’s been nearly a year and I haven’t had to change the batteries on zigbee yet

I have the Yale Assure Lock (not 2) and was using the green Z-Wave module with it that worked only through the Samsung Smartthings app, but was not exactly user friendly to add or remove codes. I use this lock for my Airbnb so being able to add and remove users remotely is important. I was looking for this for a while and when I saw it available on Amazon Canada, I had to get it.Installing is as simple as just removing the battery cover, taking one battery out, plugging the module in and putting the battery back in. What they don't tell you anywhere including the instructions, FAQ, or tech support is that you have to go into the master menu on the keypad by entering your master code and the gear icon. Once there, choose option 7 > gear icon, and then choose 1 to have the keypad communicate with the wifi module. Once that's done, now you can go into the app and go through the setup process. The phone support was not able to tell me about this either. After several holds and during one of the holds, I was trying out different menus on the keypad when I came across this option.

We have four first-generation Assure locks, and have tried a variety of smart modules with them including Z-Wave, Homekit, the August Connect kit, and these. These are easily the most reliable of the group; they never drop from the network, and have worked flawlessly for us. Reasonably simple setup (just don't forget to factory reset your lock before you install), the August Home Assistant integration works well. Only downside is they go through batteries considerably faster (understandably), and need a 2.4Ghz network (which is fine, and reduces power consumption as well). Super happy with them, and a little sad they weren't available from the get go.

I was able to set this up on my YRD216 & so far its working as intended. After set up it did not erase any of my preexisting codes including the master code. I like how convenient this makes my life.I needed some help with installing the Door sense that needed a screw head of a specific size to fit in a specific place on the door frame. I used YouTube to help with installation of doorsense because this neither comes with any instructions and the website is very unhelpful too. But once you set it up you can forget about it and enjoy the convenience.
