In order to get exactly the kind of tone colors he wants, bobby uses two different trumpet mouthpieces. The 'jazz' model is his usual all-around choice. It has a fairly deep roomy cup for a warm, big sound, and a throat and back bore designed to give enough "jump and snap" for maneuvering through quick jazz passages with a rich full sound. The 'lead' model, on the other hand, gives that extra sizzle and high note clarity for playing lead parts. It features enough air compression for high range playing, but still allows a big open sound. Lead specifications: model: YAC SHEWLEAD inner diameter: 16.54mm Contour: semi-round thickness: semi-thick cup depth: very shallow throat: 3.56mm Back bore: narrow jazz specifications: model: YAC SHEWJAZZ inner diameter: 16.85mm Contour: semi-round thickness: semi-thick cup depth: medium throat: 3.65mm Back bore: medium.

The mouthpiece just feels good on the lips. The sound is awesome and it does help me play notes in the higher register much more cleaner and better sounding. I love playing with this mouthpiece. I had been playing a schilke 14a4a and sometimes a jetone but this one for me is a much better fit.

I am a trumpet geek. I bought this mostly to add to my collection. I also own the Wayne bergeron lead mouthpiece and several monette mouthpieces. I own schilke 6a4a and have played schilke 13a4a for most of my musical life. Finding the right mouthpiece is a personal decision largely through trial and error, but this one is worthy to be considered. It helps with high notes, is comfortable to play and helps with endurance and is easy to play in tune.

Great addition to my mouthpiece collection. Takes some practice to get the slotting right as this makes it quite easy in the upper register. Tone is pretty awful as you'd expect in the lower range, but this bad boy is all about the screaming - I can finally hit a super G with this!

Product came promptly and was well packed. New and shiny, no scratches or other damage. This mouthpiece really helped me to reach higher notes. When I tire, I go back to my old mouthpiece which is a Bach 7c. which is more forgiving. Very happy with the product.
