The good:These switches are perfect for rooms with ceiling fans and bathrooms with vents. If you know how to configure zwave associations then they work perfectly well in virtual 3/4-way configurations with other zwave switches. They respond quickly to software control and are highly configurable including the behavior and color of the indicator leds on the switch itself, whether to allow control to turn the switch on and off (this is useful for smart light bulbs so that the switch can control the bulb without cutting power to it), the minimum, maximum, and default brightness values, the brightness of the "night light" function, dimming speed, and other parameters. Additionally they look great, if your house has paddle style switches (which is ADA compliant so they're common on newer homes) these blend right in without looking strange or silly. Additionally this switch supports S2 (unauthenticated) security. 5 stars for all that. The bad:They don't feel good. Other products from zooz feel great and have a nice responsive *click* from the mircoswitch, the paddles on these are kind of muddy and I'm sometimes not really sure whether I've actually pressed the button or not. Additionally local control from physically pressing the button on the switch is pretty slow, after pressing the button it's a solid half second or more before the light actually turns on, sometimes by the time I realize I haven't pressed the button (because it's a really muddy button) I've walked halfway into the room and either have to get my phone out to fix it or just turn around and go back to hit the switch again. You can learn to get used to the wait, and you can learn the sort of technique for correctly pressing the switch but I personally feel it shouldn't be necessary, I want to be able to unthinkingly slap the switch on the way into a room and get on with it, -1 star for all that. The ugly:At the time of writing there is no competition for this switch. If you want a zwave switch that offers dimming and control of a secondary load in a single device then this is the only option. If that's no good for you then you may have to consider getting a couple of those hidden dimmers/relays and a scene controller.Other thoughts:As always smart switches are kind of big compared to their dumber cousins. At this point I've had to remove more than one of the original new work electrical boxes in my house and install plastic old work boxes which are typically larger.

This does everything it says it should do, and does it as easily and well as any z-wave device can. I needed to replace a failed in-fan zigbee unit that never really worked. I had been waiting for months or longer for another brand's switch to become available, and finally "settled" for this. Turns out there was no "settling" involved, and I should have made this purchase months ago. Installation was as easy as any good z-wave device I've used. The switch is responsive. There are plenty of customizations/configurations available in z-wave settings. Good product.

I buy a lot of products on Amazon and believe in giving credit where it's due...I looked a long time for a duel switch to use for my bathroom fan/light. Tried some others, but Zooz was the ONLY smart switch manufacture who addressed this issue correctly. I now have two Zooz duel smart switches installed in separate bathrooms. Both continue to work great, were easy to install, and paired with no effort to my Hubitat Hub after Zooz recent update expanding compatibility for additional home automation hubs (BTW, Hubitat is the way to go). Both Zooz duel smart switches have been working flawlessly now for about a year. No issues thus far. That said, I mainly appreciate Zooz penchant for addressing issues other home automation electronics companies never seem to consider. My kudos also apply to the Zooz outdoor motion sensor which I bought year before last. My Zooz outdoor motion sensor still works perfectly with no battery replacement in well over a year (this is a really great product). I did my research and nobody else in the market offered such a reliable outdoor motion sensor, with such a long battery life, with nearly universal hub compatibility.Great company with innovative and (at least for me) reliable products!

When I first stumbled upon this product, I couldn't believe what I had found. I'm relatively new to home automation (and DIY anything for that matter) and thought for sure the problem I was trying to solve was such an unusual one there was no way there would be a product that would meet my exact need. In this case the need was the ability to control three different devices in a very specific combination of ways and only a single-gang switch box to house a controller that could do the job. According to what I read, the Zen30 would do the trick!Even after reading the specs, I was still a little skeptical but ordered it anyway to see if there was some way it could work. This was my first Z-wave device installation and I knew nothing about the protocol going in. I'm not an engineer nor an electrician, but I'm also not the least knowledgeable person on the planet so I figured it couldn't be that hard to figure it out. However, when I unboxed the device and started trying to figure things out, I quickly realized my lack of knowledge and experience was going to make this a challenge and I still wasn't certain the Zen30 could do what I needed it to.Rather than try to stumble my way through getting it right, I opened a ticket with Zooz customer support asking some questions to confirm whether the device would do everything I needed and how to configure it if so. Karen, the support agent who responded to my request, got back to me quickly with a number of clarifying questions. She asked me about so many things I hadn't considered that I thought for sure I was in over my head. But because her questions were so detailed that I figured I would respond as best I could and see if she could help me stumble my way through the process of making it work. Long-story-short, Karen's patience, persistence, and depth of knowledge were instrumental in helping me get the Zen30 to do EXACTLY what I wanted it to do. She must have spent hours over the course of 6 or 7 email exchanges that went on for as many weeks, composing tailored instructions for me and continuing to check-in and provide support until I finally got the device installed and functioning perfectly. In all my years as a consumer and a software tech exec I've not received support as comprehensive and high quality as I have from Zooz. Customer service has become such an afterthought for most companies, I didn't realize how important it was to me and how big of an impact it could have. After this experience, I'm a Zooz customer for life!!Great product, excellent service!!

So let me start by saying support is awesome. Very responsive and helped me fix my issues quickly. I use a smartthings hub and was having trouble installing the device type handler. Turns out my phone was reformatting part of the code when I copied so it was causing an error to be thrown. If you are getting errors when installing try going through a pc. That worked for me. Once that was completed I installed the switch. Its pretty self explanatory and easy, especially if you have ever done electrical work. I installed all of my switches and dimmers so this was a breeze. I have a two gang box in my garage that housed two switches for the interior and exterior lights. I converted one side to a dual receptacle for our chest freezer so I needed a switch that would control interior and exterior lights in one spot. This fit the bill perfectly. I set up the dimmer on the exterior lights on a smart lighting setup so they come on at sunset and off at sunrise (to match the setup on my front porch lights). I set the ramp rate to max (99 seconds is max available in the settings) so it slowly fades on with the sunset and then back off at sunrise. Inside light is tied to the secondary relay for an on off setting. Ties to my garage tilt sensor to automatically turn on when I come in and off once the door closes (on a delay). Switch is fast and responsive, manual use works fine and app control is quick and accurate. I like the ability to change colors on the leds and the plethora of other setting available once you get into it. I've only had it in for a day so I can't speak to longevity or reliability yet, but I'll update this review once I've had it set up for some time and if I run into any issues. So far I'm happy.

One of the biggest problems with smart lightswitches is that they're bulky and difficult to fit into electrical boxes. It's almost impossible to fit two smart switches in a 2-gang box, particularly if there's a lot of heavy-gauge wiring in the way.Ideally, someone would sell a double switch that has a shallow controller (so that it fits in a 2-gang box) and two separate, full-size toggles (so that it fits in a 2-gang cover plate). Since no one has done that yet (as far as I'm aware), this Zooz switch is the next best thing.Since I only needed to fit in one switch, the installation was easy. There would definitely not be room in my electrical box for two full-size smart switches. However, since the switch doesn't fill the cover plate, I had to buy a blank adapter plate to fill in the gap. You should factor that additional cost into the purchase. The ZEN30's instructions are excellent, with giant diagrams showing all of the wiring connections. As well, the wires are very flexible, which helps a lot for getting it into the box. My only criticism is that there's no built-in wire for ground. I was able to reuse one of the wires from a switch I was removing, but I could imagine people forgetting the ground entirely. It would be better if you only had to connect one wire for the line, freeing up another for ground.Since the switch is AC-powered, it was a breeze connection it to my Z-Wave network and set it up in openHAB. And wow, has Zooz ever allowed for customization. There are a ton of configuration parameters, from how fast the light dims in and out to a choice of colours for the LED indicators on the switch. The physical switches respond well, but you have to press and hold the on/off buttons to change the brightness, which makes it almost impossible to make small adjustments. Separate buttons for brightness would have been better. As well, the fan button is really small. It could have been twice the size and you'd still have lots of real estate for the light controls. These are minor complaints. It's a solid device, and I only hope that Zooz will read this review and like my idea for a shallow, 2-gang switch. I'll buy at least two of them.
