Frequently I have to cut Acme threads on my lathe. Grinding the tools for cutting these threads, especially the smaller pitch threads, can be a real pain. This little gauge makes it much easier. Just grind the 29 degree angle and then grind the nose flat until it fits the proper notch on the gauge and Bob's your uncle. I recently ground an 8 pitch tool for cutting internal threads and they came out perfect without a lot of regrinding to get the perfect cutter angles and flats.

I used it to make an Acme 10tpi threading tool from HSS. I can’t say how accurate it is compared to higher priced gauges, but it seems okay.
