Really this switch saved your battery. If your car is old or very basic, then it is useful to use it so that it doesn't completely drain your battery during long periods of inactivity.
It's very handy:
In winter, when batteries suffer the most, it is very practical, as it disconnects the battery from the car's mains and conserves current to be able to start after weeks or months without using the car. At the same time it serves as an anti-theft device, since without closing the switch the car will not start.
How is connected the disconnector of battery for car?
Usually it is put in the negative, you connect your cable to the current cutter directly as if it was to the battery, and then the set of the cable plus the current cutter to the battery.
You disconnect the NEGATIVE (-) of the battery and insert the device, if you loosen the green handle the battery is disconnected from the circuit, which avoids the discharge when you leave the vehicle without using it for a while.

since i park my tractors in the barn ..dont wat a possible fire so i use these for battery disconnects ..no possible drain on battery either ..got old tractors lol..work great could be used on many different areas cf concern

Great for a few small gauge wires ..would not work with several heavy gauge wires also dose not come with additional nut and bolt to connect wires ..
