This cork grease does its job as one would want. The tubes extend well, and the grease acts like any other cork greases I've used in 14 years as a band teacher--perhaps a bit softer than others, but not enough to be a problem.When I supply students with school-owned instruments, I make sure to include the cork grease as failure to apply that somewhat regularly can necessitate a pricey repair to replace the corks (minimum shop charge is $100 in our area). At this price, it doesn't hurt the budget (or wallet) quite so much to provide it to the students.

The price is great. Doesn't smell odd. Lubricates well. But the consistency is TOO SOFT. It squeezes out of the joint and makes a slimy mess on the exterior of my wooden flute that I have to wipe off- or it will be too slippery to play.

What should a good cork grease do? Obviously lubricate the cork so you can assemble and disassemble your instrument easily. It should also condition the cork to help protect its longevity. The Rochix cork grease certainly meets the requirements for assembly/disassembly and I assume it has a positive helpfulness for the corks themselves. I gave it a 4 star rating because of a feature that can be viewed as a negative by some and as a positive by others. It is a very soft grease and I found it messy to apply in the traditional method. I applied too much which caused some to squirt out between the assembled sections of my clarinet. I don't think it can be applied evenly by using the tube alone; I think some finger smoothing is also necessary. The positive to all this is unlike the typical "hard" grease the joints assemble smoother using this grease - but have a wipe paper or cloth handy.

For me, this is like a lifetime supply, but if I were giving lessons or in a classroom, this pack would make sense.Of all the handy little accessories, this is actually an essential. Vaseline or chapstick are bad substitutes that can damage your instrument over time.This brand has been fine on my Alto sax.Cork grease wasn't included in my cleaning kit, but I see lots of them, including rochix, now include key oil AND cork grease, for a one stop option.
