This was purely purchased to allow me to listen into communications on my local ski hill and for this role, it's absolutely perfect.Being dual channel, it allows me to monitor both the safety patrollers (Allowing me to know what areas are safe and might open after snowfall) but also the lift maintenance channel, so I can hear what lifts are going to running and if there are going to be any delays with any lifts, which is quite common after a large snowfall. The earpiece is fine, but as I wear it under a helmet, I've chosen something aftermarket for the role, which works better for my needs. The range is excellent, and even though we stay miles away from the ski hill, we're able to listen to all the morning communications before we head up to the hill. It's features are way beyond my level of expertise, so I can not speak to it how it functions in the ham radio work, but as long as you read the instructions and watch their videos, it's easy enough to learn how to use it.Overall I'm very happy with it and look forward to learning more about its advanced features over the next few months.

As advertised. Easy to program with chirp, comes with 2 different antenna's, the charging cradle, usb cable - very impressed with the USB charging especially. Audio is clear, this is a real step up from a Baofeng.

The Talkpod A36plus MAX Long Range Two Way Radio is heavy duty, with a colour screen, allowing 2 bands to be received at once, and built-in FM radio.Contents:- 1 radio- 1 Battery- 1 Charger- Earpiece- USB Cable- HDMI connection cable (why?)- Belt clip- Hand strapBased on other reviews, this radio can do alot if you know how to set it up and use it properly. The manual is confusing, I can't find the PC software, and can't get channels to change. The only thing I figured out was the FM radio! The FM radio works well, receives local stations easily and decent sound for 1 speaker. The speaker doesn't have a tinny sound which is nice. The battery lasts a long time on a full charge. Right now I just use it for the FM radio at work and will last 3 days easily.I can't speak to much else unfortunately, however if I figure it out more, I will update the review.

Today I'm reviewing the Talkpod A36Plus Max GMRS Handheld radio. The radio comes with lots of accessories like a privacy earpiece, extra antenna, USB cable for PC, battery charger, belt clip, wrist strap, USB power adapter, and cable. The radio is pretty small and easy to use with one hand. It has 2 separate bands you can switch between (A/B). You can choose either Channels or Frequencies on A or B. There's also an auto scan feature to find active channels. On top of the radio, there's an Emergency button for sending distress signals. It has a special weather function with 9 different weather channels. In my area, I could listen to 3 weather stations, even one in French! The radio also has an FM radio for regular listening.I mainly use the radio to listen to air traffic and emergency channels, rather than for two-way communication. You can type in a frequency directly on the front panel. There are websites that suggest frequencies for your local area, like aircraft arrivals/departures, control towers, fire departments, and other stuff. What you can pick up depends on where you are.The radio menu has a lot of options, which can be overwhelming. I found the website more helpful than the manual that came with it. Reading a few articles about how GMRS radios work also helped since I'm new to this type of radio.I think it's a good thing to have if you're a hiker, boater, or just want something for emergencies. Having weather info, FM radio, a distress button, and the ability to call for help is really useful. I'm still learning how to use it, and there's definitely a learning curve if you're not familiar with these radios. Overall, I'd recommend it.
