I was using this for the top of a succulent terrarium and definitely didn’t need a big bag but the price was right. It’s more off white than bright white but I was okay with that. There are some black or brown pieces mixed in too. I rinsed it first so that whatever came off of it wasn’t going into my plants and it’s a good thing I did that. Quite a bit of white residue came out but most of the gravel was still white.

When I shattered my bamboos original planter I was scattering to find the proper items to re-pot it. This entire bag was used in the one planter I bought which I was not expecting but appreciated because I had no other use for the rocks. Does the job, no complaints.

I'm a newb when it comes to all things gardening related; that said, the 3lb bag is probably the equivalent of 1.5 -2 cans of soda if it were a liquid. Get more than you think you need. I ended up using spare plastic storage containers to assist in filling in the volume and it still came up short.
