Measurement Step

  • Step 1. Prepare the parts to be tested.
  • Step 2. Stay away from the metal object at least 2 cm, press the switch key to turn on. Note: it is suggested that the instrument should be zeroed with reference to "zero calibration" before testing.
  • Step 3. The probe is placed vertically and quickly on the surface to be measured until the drop is heard,and the measured value is displayed on the screen, and then the probe is lifted at least 2 cm away from the part to be measured, and the next measurement can be carried out.Note: if the automatic shutdown function is turned on and there is no operation within 3 minutes, the instrument will automatically shut down.

高級機種と比較したわけでは無いので精度は不明だが、同じ鉄板でパテ無しと有りの部分を計測すると数値が違うので数値自体の精度は不明と言えど、薄い厚いはちゃんと計測できてると思います。中古車の仕入れや板金塗装、磨き作業に使っていこうと思います

I was about to get a used car that was advertised as "accident free" but I was able to see that the hood and a fender has been repainted! the paint thickness wasn't the same than the rest of the car on those two panel! a 30$ well invested!

May be a good unit but it does require calibration before use. The instructions for doing this are poorly written and somewhat non-sensical. Returned. Would have kept it if I could have figured out how the calibration was supposed to be performed.

No expert in car paint fixing but my Electrical Engineering background tells me that this instrument seems accurate and repeatable when measuring against the calibration kit. When measuring the finest calibration film of 50um, it is off by a maximum of about10um. The percentage of error becomes much less on thicker calibration films like 100um, 250um and up.At this finest setting, I have to zero the readings from time to time but the detailed manual calibration held up for at least one full month when I needed to remove the batteries for storage.There is a trick for repeatability. You have to hold the unit with your thumb and middle finger on the concave spots just above the sensor when measuring. This will ensure that the sensor is placed flat on the measuring surface. Overall 5 stars for the price.
