i bought this a while back and got some use out of it.but now after sitting the battery has gone dead and i cannot get the cover off to replace it.even tried to pry the cover loose with a screwdriver and it did not come off.if i pry it off totally then the cover will be wrecked and never hold another battery.

I received the Camway Digital Caliper today and I was surprised at the quality and features of this tool. Actually, I didn't expect it to be so nice. Large, easy to read display, depth gauge and extra battery. I tested it for accuracy and it appears to be right on the money. It comes with 32-feller gauges which is probably more for a tradesman, which I'm not. Maybe I'll find a use for them someday. I had a cheaper digital caliper that was a little flimsy and it died and there is no way to change the battery. I highly recommend the Camway digital caliper whether you're a tradesman or just a DIY.

UPDATE: Thanks so much Camway for sending me a new Vernier after reading my review. Your Customer Service exceeded my expectations.ORIGINAL: Bought this product and it worked well for the first 2-3 months when finishing some little projects at home. Then a new project kicked off and when using it again, after 6 months, the Display was not working. Changed the battery as per instructions and still did not work. Unfortunately, I cannot return it since the 30 days grace period already passed.

This was my second attempt at buying callipers. The first pair (not this brand) didn't work, so I was nervous these would be the same. They came with a battery that was dead on arrival, but they worked perfectly once I'd replaced it with the spare, supplied battery.Replacing the battery was a tad tricky - you do need to use the supplied screw driver, but it is not obvious which screw you should unscrew, and the battery compartment really looks like it should slide - it doesn't!The unit itself is quite heavy and feels robust. The 'wheel' is a bit wobbly but that doesn't matter to me. The part that shows the measurements is also made of metal - I think some other makes are plastic.One thing I love is that the inches fractions are shown in useful fractions i.e. 1/8, 1/16 etc. up to 1/128. I noticed that images of other similar callipers seem to show things like 1/70 which is not so useful.I can't comment on the accuracy but they seem to be good enough for me for handicrafts and do always go back to zero. I also can't comment on the longevity yet.I didn't need the feeler gauges - they are tucked away for one day just in case. I'd rather have purchased without them.

These definitely seem to be the best of the cheaper Chinese made calipers. The build quality is solid (all metal), it uses the longer lasting and easier to find Cr2032 battery and the battery compartment is secured with a small screw, no issues with the cover falling off. The sliding mechanism felt smooth right off the bat, and the screw to secure the mechanism works well.I've never used more expensive digital calipers, but at the price point, these seem perfect for my needs (measuring bicycle parts and minor wood working projects).The only minor issue is that the screen had some scuff marks in the plastic, but luckily it's below the area where the readings are displayed. I'll try and polish the screen to get rid of them.
