The birdhouse itself has all the features I want: the hole is the right size, and placed properly. There are scratch marks on the inside to help the babies climb the walls to fledge. There is a predator guard on the hole to help keep intruders out. Mostly properly ventilated. That's the good part... BUT:1. the box is made of 1/4 inch think wood so it's not particularly durable. I'd bring it in after nesting season.2. It has a perch under the hole - this is is a definite design mistake. Cute - but it won't be used by the birds - it will be used by predators. It must be removed.3. Next, you need to get your drill out and several very small 3/4" screws and screw the various pieces of the birdhouse together. It looks like this is being held together by wire nails - it won't hold up without additional screws.4. Take the screen out on the bottom of the nest. Bird claws can get stuck in this screen and it will kill them.5. Drill 1/2" holes into the bottom of the box to help with ventilation - and to allow for drainage.6. Put a proper closing mechanism on the swing-open front panel. The magnet won't do. Not strong enough at all. Industrial strength velcro might work - or a proper hook, but as is, no.

Cartman Bird House, purchased 2, I mounted the bird houses but the bird will not occupy the bird houses . This is VERY DISAPPOINTING. I have the OLD, weatherworn houses I will fix & place back up.

This is a great birdhouse with many good features for birds. EXCEPT the magnet to keep the whole front door closed is dangerous for birds because it is too weak. And by “weak” I am being kind, it doesn’t really work at all. Others have said the same thing, and we just put a nail in the front so the door doesn’t open on the birds. Easy fix, but sharing as a warning and offering a suggestion to the manufacturer that it would be better to just screw the front door on properly so that it doesn’t come open and the eggs or babies fall out, which could easily happen with how flimsy the door is. I appreciate the idea and concept for easy cleaning, but the safety of the birds is compromised with using a magnet even a stronger one, so it’s better to fasten it on tighter and better. Thanks for your consideration. And I recommend this birdhouse as long as u take the time to put a nail or screw in the front to secure the door. Very easy to do.

Decent house if you are in a rush. I usually build myself but too busy-lazy so I always try to follow specs and recs from experts. Three items not easy for me to correct. 1. The wood should be 3/4” thick; this is 3/8”, 2. The roof should overhang more to keep out rain, 3. The height from hole to floor should be at least 5”; this one is 4”. Items easy to correct- 1. Hole about 1-7/16”; should be 1-1/2 to 1-9/16”; I filed it until 1-1/2” spade bit fit, 2. The magnetic door seems too easy for predators to open; I added a wood screw to hold it closed, 3. No perch for bluebirds; I sawed it off. It seems decent with a lot of good features. I’ll follow up after the season.

Had to use very small nails to secure it. Wood too thin for screws.Wil see if it holds over the winter.
