It worked very well until it rusted out after about 2-1/2 years. But then, if left outside all the time, expect that to happen. I like the trigger that released the bottom so the coals can fall out. Holds a lot of charcoal. Might have to get another one.

I have used this charcoal chimney starter a few times now and it's really easy to use if you follow all the proper steps. The handle on the side to release charcoal onto the grill after they've caught fire is probably my favorite thing about it.Only thing I'd say is that it does get very hot so even though it says gloves not required, using gloves is most definitely required. As someone who is beginner level at charcoal and grilling, this was SO EASY for me to do myself. Highly recommend!Oh and - use high quality charcoal for maximum efficiency.

Went from a Weber to this and am happy so far. I've used it a dozen times and it still works as expected. Does not seem as heavyweight as the Weber but the bottom drop trumps that shortcoming. I think that the issue with those having warping problems with the base is that they leave the coals in there too long until the whole thing glows red. It's not designed for that, your BBQ is...so dump it as soon as the flames are dancing atop the coals. Second photo is pretty much the limit of how hot you should let your starter get.UPDATE: Almost two years later, it's about finished. A few months ago the bottom plate started falling out. Too bad, because the chute drop concept worked well until then. Won't reorder, certainly not at the current price and shipping on top.

Not sure why all the other charcoal chimneys don’t work the same, pull the trigger and the coals fall out the bottom. I see guy’s struggling with welders gloves trying to turn the other brands upside down to dump the coals... crazy. Love this product, quick and easy, works as advertised and was fully assembled ready to use unlike what some reviewers have said.
