I was disappointed because the tiles that arrived were barely an inch despite being listed at 1.18". While the yellow color back was cute, tiles were too small. Also, packaging to one of the set was opened when arrived, so I think it possibly was a returned item from before.

So this is a "travel" sized set with slightly smaller tiles than a traditional table set. If you are elderly this may be an issue but for the average person, it should be just fine. The tiles themselves are nicely made, feel solid, and have good weight. The designs are also nicely printed with no errors or blemishes. My only issue with this is the case. For whatever reason they chose to use what feels like an insulated lunch bag! Because of the soft bag, even if you take your time to perfectly arrange the tiles in the bag, the moment you pick it up they all get jumbled around into a mess, and no longer fit properly. I'm not sure if this is by design or not since I'm not Chinese, but I can surely tell you it's a pain when you go to store this since now it's all lumpy. This would have been much better in a solid or at least stiffer style of case.

I didn't expect much for a mahjong set that was such a fair price, but these were so beautiful and well made and I am so excited to use them and get to know the game! I've seen the game played many times and always wanted to learn and wanted a set of my own and seen some really pretty, expensive sets, but couldn't get myself to purchase them so when I saw this one, I thought I'd try it and figured I'd upgrade after awhile when I learned and was comfortable with the game but my first impression with this set was I may not be too impatient to upgrade as these are SO pretty! I LOVE it!

This is a really nice set. I wish the carrying case was a little bigger as it is hard to fit the tiles and the mat in all together.
