Material seems to be stored for long time or the poor quality of some coating especially the phosphorecent one which falled at the package opening.

I've been using cheap compasses for a long time, but this thing is a awesome. Used it on a 4 day overnight camping trip in winter to help guide me to and from my destination. Worked superb. I like the scales and lanyard which also has a scale on it, great for measuring distance. Love it.

Nice little compass....the mirror’s horizontal/vertical aiming lines are useful for positioning the mirror at the optimal angle for viewing “red in the shed”....despite it not having a way to preset the declination, I’ve noticed that it uses a technique because of the index line being within the bezel....just got to add/subtract the declination by turning the bezel ‘X’ number of degrees East/West according to your geographic area.....all in all I like the simplicity of this compass

Great compass. Love the break free neck strap and that it has scaling markets on it. Sight notch is perfect and wheel house turns easily but also stays in place as needed. Worth the money!
