Interesting to see how well the stapled spine holds up. The cover is sturdy. Not sure why people find the black dots too dark. They look fine to me. I ordered the sleeves for it as it will be knocked around in my purse. Also, I want the pen attached for quick notes.

As an outdoorsman, I’m always on the lookout for reliable gear, and this Notebook/Pocket Journal (3.5"x5.5") has quickly become a must-have in my pack. The compact size makes it easy to slip into any pocket, ensuring I’ve got it ready whether I’m on a hike, fishing by the river, or camping under the stars. The pages are thick enough to handle the ink from my pen without any bleed-through, even if the weather’s a little damp. The cover is durable, holding up well against the elements and the rough treatment of the wilderness. I’ve used it to jot down everything from campfire recipes to the day's wildlife sightings, and it's been sturdy through it all.

This was recommended by Jana of Purl Together on YouTube. I like the dotted layout which makes it easier to sketch or write and just the right size to fit in back pocket.

Portable size, quality material, and great price. I take a lot of notes every day, and these are perfect for anyone who wants something very pocketable.

El papel es de buena calidad pero las libretas tienen pocas hojas y vienen solo con unas grapas, claramente no valen su precio, de igual forma puedes ocuparlas para notas importantes o anotar ideas de cualquier forma me quedo satisfecho con la compra.

I have had these notebooks for just over a month, now, and have updated my review. They are not my favorite pocket-size dot grid notebooks, but they're good; I prefer these no-name 100gsm 64-page refill notebooks: While not my favorite, they serve quite well, and offer good value for the money. Unless they fall apart in the next few weeks, or fade unacceptably in the next few months, I don't foresee any problems that might require me to modify my review and four-star rating. These notebooks are quite good (which is better than I expected), which is substantially better than my last few Moleskine notebooks. I wanted some small, comfortably pocket-sized dot-grid notebooks with sturdy-ish paper that could hold up to use with a fountain pen without breaking the bank. I found that this pack of five Field Book staple-bound notebooks for a reasonable price, smaller than my smartphone but not so small they're difficult to use, fits my needs well. The staple binding allows me to press the book flat on a flat surface for writing very well, too. This is perhaps middling-weight paper, though I do not know its actual gsm weight, but it performs reasonably well for its weight, though it's certainly no Clairefontaine.Fountain pen users will typically be especially sensitive to ink feathering on the page, ghosting, ink smearing or marking the facing page, and bleed-through. What I found is:Ghosting is discernible but not legible, faint enough that it does not interfere with legibility of text written on the ghosted side. In fact, the ghosting becomes less noticeable once I have written over it.Bleeding is rare, only occurring when my pen lingered too long on a single spot or where I attempted to clarify where I made a writing error by tracing over it, and it was so faint as to be barely discernible. In short, it is not really a problem in practical use.Wetness is pretty low, comparable to some decent paper for fountain pen use. Nothing smears as little as five seconds later (I haven't intentionally tested immediately, and am not a southpaw so I don't expect smearing to happen with such a short drying time). In one case I intentionally flipped the book shut and applied pressure immediately after writing something, and found that only the very faintest sign of marking on a facing page appeared, comparable to the bleed-through characteristics of the book, and even that was only in the last letter of the last word I wrote, a quarter-second or less after I wrote it. No facing page marks for the rest of what I wrote appeared at all. I had to really try to get my writing to mark a facing page.Feathering is so faint as to make me wonder sometimes if I'm imagining it, searching so diligently for it that I begin to hallucinate it. Only the very closest examination reveals feathering effects.Of course, you might think I'm using a very high-quality pen with very high-quality ink to get such great results, but I used an un-tuned, eleven dollar pen with the standard type of ink cartridge that came with it.In short, it is better than expected or needed for a pocket notebook where I scribble thoughts before transferring them to some other format. I'm happy with this purchase. The bundle of five notebooks arrived with the typical paperboard-style band around them, the whole bundle in shrink-wrap plastic that was easy to remove in a few seconds with my pocket knife (which needs a little sharpening, I've come to realize), without any meaningful danger of damage to the notebooks. The staple binding is aligned well, the proportions seem regular, and the edges are mostly clean (there's a slight edge-cut artifact that adds up to "who cares" levels of insignificance). The dot grid printing is a medium-dark grey that my eyes sometimes, for just a moment, mix up with the dots on my "i" letters and periods using black ink, but otherwise interfere with nothing. The feel and look of the cover material with its low-contrast light grey on earthy dark grey, semi-black background coloring has an attractive quality to it.When writing in it, I find that the dot grid guides my writing exceedingly well in straight, well-ordered lines. Sometimes my brain almost doesn't seem to consciously notice the dots, attention naturally bringing its focus to the letters I write instead, but sometimes it stands out to me in use; these dots are on the dark side. I find, with ruled paper, that the lines sometimes distract or make it slightly more difficult to read letters written on the page afterward, probably in part because the lines tend to be darker on the paper than the dots on dot grid paper. I find the same problem, but even worse, with graph paper. This dot grid pattern in a pocket notebook gives me all the benefits I need of both ruled and graph paper lines, but with almost all the benefits of blank, unmarked paper. The dot grid is spaced out at quarter-in intervals. I've developed a preference for five millimeter grid, but tastes vary, so there's no point in adding or subtracting stars for this characteristic.
