The barebones Cidoo Nebula is really a steal for the price! It's really a decent budget based keyboard that is designed to allow more of the natural acoustics of a switch to shine through! The only issue people may have with this keyboard is that because of the plastic film placed over the switch board, some of your switches may bend and then these keys will not register when you type. It's not a big deal though, I simply tested out all of the keys after assembling the keyboard and then proceeded to test each one and replaced the switches that were bent. It only happened to about three keys in total. It's a minor inconvenience when you consider the low budget price of the keyboard! This barebones Cidoo comes with a beautiful and thick wrist pad that is excellent in quality if you choose to use it. I like it because it has a design and sufficient thickness to extend the keyboard space.I used Leobog Space Crystal switches and SA Roman style pudding keycaps in purple and the result was stunning! I love the thocky and creamy sound of my Cidoo Nebula! I cannot say enough about this keyboard!Overall I highly recommend consumers buy this keyboard! I ended up buying three to customize and give out as gifts! Also it allow me to experiment with switches and keycaps.

*** 1 MONTH UPDATE : Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this keyboard. Three consecutive keys, to the left of "backspace", suddenly stopped working. I verified and it's not a switch issue. I also tried resetting to factory settings. Since I missed the return period by a mere few days, I won't be able to get my money back, which really sucks. ***.I decided to pull the trigger despite the negative reviews and I'm so glad I did. I needed a small lightweight mechanical keyboard I could easily throw in my backpack to use in cafés and libraries (for that purpose, I installed Akko Penguins silent tactile switches and thick high quality white pbt keycaps). As others have mentioned, you need to be careful while installing the switches. The PCB seems to be covered with a thin film that needs to be pricked with pins of the switch. If not perfectly aligned (perpendicularly), the pins risk bending as the switch is being pushed.Since I like tinkering with keyboards, I managed to pry the case open (painfully, with the help of YT videos). I did a 3 layer tape mod and added a layer of foam to fill in the negative space, to make it sound a bit less hollow. Note that this keyboard stock has a deep resonance to it, which I really like. In my opinion, it makes silent switches sound fuller and non-silents switches louder. The plastic case delivers a kind of auditive and tactile resonance you just can't get from an aluminum case, so I'm really happy to have a added this plastic board to my collection (to paraphrase George Costanzas, "I type according to mood").I bought the keyboard with a 40% off coupon. The value of it is... insane, especially with the silicone wrist rest, which is surprisingly of good quality and soft to the touch. Also, via compatibility is always a plus.

As someone in the keyboard hobby, this is a decent starter keyboard, but though it is kinda hard to get into if you wanted to mod it. What surprised me was that the board offers support for screw in stabs support and the fact it has alternative layout support, such as ISO Enter, Spilt Left Shift. For the alt layout options you will have to solde the switches into place. Included is the usual keycap/switch combo and a cable. If you want a good starter keyboard with some layout options, wireless, and with a included wrist rest. This is a good combo.

Had high hopes for this keyboard,it looked really good in the pictures, really nice colour, and I have a set of keycaps that would have matched it perfectly. But upon taking it out of the box, the image in my mind of a lovely keyboard soon vanished, the blue of the case was paint, so poorly sprayed on that you could see yellow patches all around it, where it was so thinly sprayed on, the colour underneath was showing through. Also the stabilisers were loose, so would have to have been replaced, the sound of them if used, would have been such a traumatic experience,a full recovery would have been extremely doubtful. The whole keyboard just had a very cheap feel to it, maybe if the price had been less than £10,it still would have been overpriced, considering the work and expense needed to get an only average keyboard from it.This keyboard was quickly put back in the box,and returned for a refund, and unfortunately there is nothing good I could say about it.

I read the negative reviews and decided that it was probably user error with all the people having problems with dead keys etc. Well I'm sad to report that it may not have been. I'm an experienced kb builder and although it was annoying to pre-punch into the films to insert my switches it went well. I was testing the keyboard periodically as I built it and all was well.... until.... i got to the bottom row. All of a sudden the top row and the modifiers on the left went dead. The lights were still light for the rgb but they would no longer register keypresses. It seemed like a component in the matrix must have failed in the 20 mins from when i first started building until i got to the final row. I took my switches all out and put a brand new one in the top row randomly and sure enough it was no longer detected in VIA. So something failed. Thankfully it happened so soon after buying it rather than a couple months down the road when it would be past amazon's return policy. So yeah until they release a new barebones version I'd steer far clear of this kit and go with something a bit more reliable, like a GMK67 or similar.

I saw the review with the plastic film so i decided to take it off but this keyboard is definitely not made to be taken apart, the case held together by plastic clips and no screw so your stuck prying the thing apart which risks the whole thing snapping as the plastic is cheap (theres a yt video tutorial). When i managed to take the flim off the pcb, i found that the keys can still break as the hotswap connectors on the back of the pcb just snap off. Good thing i tested with caps lock, i managed to fix it by pressing it back into place, idk if thats how theyre supposed to work or if i got lucky. I resorted to inserting the keys by applying pressure on both the switch and the back of the pcb to prevent that. Ultimately, i had nothing break but my case as tons of indents from the tools i used to pry it open and it was just a pain in the a**. With that said if can sound pretty good, too bad you cant really fiddle around as taking apart the case is too much of a hassle to bother doing it again for minor adjustments. Only worth getting if you have alot of time and want a cheap board (i got it for 35 CAD).
