Very comfortable and secure, and I love the natural wood pattern. Center chin rest is SO much more balanced and comfortable, especially playing viola, but I have these on my violins, as well. Much less tension!

Good Quality, very nice. I got this centered chinrest because playing violin wasn't so comfortable and my chin would be all on the tailpiece. Rather than changing my posture, I wanted to try this one and I'm very happy with it. It makes playing more comfortable for me as my chin fits right into it, it doesn't let my chin slip. On top of that It's just very nice and looks good on my violin.

Great chin rest. Has allowed my daughter who is a little below average height be able to hold her violin much better in the correct way. In addition it has basically taken care of her neck issues. With her old chin rest she was having to go to the chiropractor and this has improved this greatly! Very easy to put on.

Ever since I started playing violin I felt a little uncomfortable with the chinrest it came with. I found a rather comfortable position to hold it, but a few weeks later my teacher saw my posture and told me to fix my posture, when I did I was almost on top of the tailpiece and that was quite displeasing. I played like that for awhile and my teacher advised me to see if I could get a center chinrest. Making a long story short, I got into amazon looked up a few chinrests, chose this one and ordered.I LOVE THIS CHINREST, it looked beautiful, better than expected and aside from that it FEELS WONDERFUL!My teacher tested the chinrest and wants to order one as well, it feels and looks awesome!I recommend it to anyone who feels uncomfortable with their current chinrest.

Playing a violin/fiddle is not exactly ergonomic. Especially one setup in the usual way. And, you don't HAVE to play a violin exactly the way the staid proper teachers tell you to. After all, are you "play"ing music for fun or torture? My neck and shoulder bound up when playing fiddle. I thought a better shoulder rest would help, so I bought a very expensive adjustable shoulder rest, one that hooks over the shoulder. It helped me some, but not much. I didn't know that there were options for violin chinrests (shape & placement) until I was searching for chinrest covers to ease that ridge on my regular chinrest that was digging into my jawbone. Then I read that some people use a centered chinrest, some professional symphony players, even. And some teachers know the shoulder rest and chinrest options, and rather than trying to mold the person's body, setup the violin to fit the person. So, feel out where you naturally want the instrument to be, what works for your body; maybe a centered chinrest would put the fiddle where you're most comfortable. And, if you have allergies, check out information on the different woods used to make chinrests.I'm thrilled with this flat flesch chinrest: it has no ridge to dig into my jawbone, and I'm holding my fiddle in a position that is much more natural and comfortable for my body. I don't have to turn my head or grip much at all using this chinrest. I've gone back to using my simple cheap shoulder rest, too, just for friction.
