Purchased for hot yoga. Stays on mat well with the corner pockets. Issue I have with this towel is the never ending shedding. After 7 washes and hundreds of passes with a lint roller, there is still fibers and fuzz that comes off the towel and sticks all over during workouts. Completely stopped using this towel, is a waste of money.

I bought this mat to use in hot yoga classes. It is decent overall, but lacks grip which is very important for me. I like the corner pockets, the towel stays in place on the mat very well. However, this towel is smooth and once it soaks up some sweat it becomes slippery, making it challenging to keep your feet planted as needed for certain postures or sequences. This might be a good towel for someone who does lower intensity styles or doesn't sweat much, but after using it regularly for a few months straight I have found myself needing a grippier towel.

Purchased this because it is a bit wider at 26". But after washing it becomes standard size and you can't use the corners to keep it in place. Could be good if you have a standard mat. I find it slippery. Good moisture retention though

This is my third Gaiam mat. I found that the grip is poorer than green or purple. In general, the mat will become a bit slippy with continuous use.

I had high hopes for this towel, but it didn’t live up to expectations for Bikram or Vinyasa yoga. Despite the “stay-put corner pockets,” it doesn’t fit snugly on a standard yoga mat and shifts around during practice. The surface is also extremely slippery, even after lightly sprinkling water to increase grip as recommended. Unfortunately, it doesn’t provide the stability needed for hot yoga, where sweat is inevitable, making it difficult to hold poses securely.That said, it may work better for other styles of yoga where sweat and grip aren’t as critical, but it’s definitely not ideal for intense, flow-based or heated practices.

The first few times I used the towel there were little beads of material coming off and going on my yoga pants…so I decided to wash it twice in a row and the problem was resolved. I think because it was new and I washed it on delicate the first time, it likely still had stuff on it from when it was manufactured. Regardless, I love it. It’s non slip to a degree, but I dont think there are any towels out there that are 100% non slip. This one is pretty close to nonslip and I use it (them, I have a few) daily for both yoga, Pilates, and fitness

Provides a layer between the yoga Matt and the floor which keep my Matt cleaner for longer. Corner pockets help keep the matt secured. Anti-slip. Rolls easily with the Matt. Machine washable and fit my Gaiam Matt perfectly.

This is a solid quality towel for your mat during hot yoga. It is slightly shorter than my mat, so I only tuck my mat into the little cloth corners in the front. Not a big deal. It says pretty flat, as in, it's not all bunched up during my sessions, even vigorous ones where I'm moving around a lot. The pile is not plush, like terry. It is very "flat" and smooth, but I don't slip on it at all. Absorbs well and washes great--I toss it in the dryer and it comes out fine. I would say if you're starting a hot yoga practice and don't want to spend top dollar for a mat towel just yet, this is a great choice!

On my flat carpet, it slips and does not adhere completely when dry. It offers more grip when wet (so in the middle of a hot yoga class). After the first wash, it shrank.

I saw the purple one and it appeared to have very short terrycloth fibers on one side. Exactly what I wanted, less than an average towel, but more than a smooth sports type moisture soaker upper (if that makes sense because words are hard).The Grey one has NO terry fibers at all, just smooth material on both sides. I am sure it is lovely and will wick sweat away as needed, but I wanted the very short terrycloth fibers for hot pilates-it just makes me feel better even though I know in that room the sweat'll be back in seconds.I'm on the fence whether I will return it or not, as it is a very good quality brand-it may work for the time being and should fit my mat. I have not taken it completely off the hanger so I cannot speak to size or absorbency.I would include the picture but it won't upload.
