I mistakenly expected this lamp to have a base similar in size too the old Prairie style lamp I had to replace when they quit working. The base is twice the size, as are the screws to hold it in place. It's not sized for the mitered intersection of a couple of 2x4s.I wish they would make more lamps in white or bronze, in particular the Prairie style. Contrary to common fashion parlance, black does not go with everything, and their gray color just looks plastic.

While I appreciate this post lamp, I would have preferred it had the top decoration as our previous lamps did. Unfortunately, they only offer the previous style in black.We were thankful for the soft warm white light output and not the new LED blue light.These are pricey, but made out of glass and metal not aluminum.OVER ALL HAPPY WITH THIS PURCHASE.

Light shines all night. It adds a touch of beauty to the front entrance to my property as well as being functional. I recommend it to those considering solar powered outdoor lamps. No problems at all after six months of continuous usage.
