How to choose the right garden pruner, Bypass or Anvil?
With a bypass cutting tool, you draw a curved or straight blade past another blade — this creates a scissor-like motion that works well for cutting live green plants. The spongy, firm outer wall surrounding the stem yields easily to that bypass motion.
With an anvil cutting tool, you bring down a straight blade against a wide anvil usually made of steel or hard rubber. Anvil pruners are better suited for dead and dried-out plants — the crushing motion causes the brittle stem to kind of explode and separate.

I have tried a number of different types of pruners and these worked great. They are very sharp and were able to cut through branches up to advertised 3/4" branches. The spring loaded hinge reduced the fatigue on my hands after quite a bit of pruning. To clean up the blade I used a bit of hand sanitizer and a cloth, good as new. If you have smaller hands these could harder to use as the open up quite wide. Overall, I would purchase again.

Love these. They hold very well in the hand, They are excellent quality, easy to clean and easy to use. The only thing that concerns me is the lock slides quite easily and so I have to be careful when holding them in my pocket or leaving them laying down. I will have to get a holster and that I believe will help solve a little fo the problem. It’s a matter of the depth of the lock, it isn’t a full turn to lock it, only a partial 1/4 turn not even and so slides out of lock easily. Other than that, they have been my go to for cuttings for Christmas this year!

They seem really good at first but once you do a few and maybe you do a branch that’s too big for them they don’t really want to work well after that so I wouldn’t say they’re the best quality.
