The HI 701 is a portable handheld meter for measuring chlorine in natural, waste, recreation, and drinking waters.
The HI 701 bridges the gap between less accurate chemical test kits, and expensive professional test instrumentation. To use, zero the instrument with your water sample, then add the reagent. Place the vial into the checker, press the button and read the results within seconds.
The meter has a range of 0.00 to 2.50 ppm (mg/L) + or - 3% of the reading (+ or - 0.03 ppm (mg/L) at 25 degrees C, with resolution 0.01 ppm (mg/L). It operates in temperatures from 0 to 50 degrees C (32 to 122 degrees F)/RH max 95%. The device operates on one 1.5V AAA battery, with an auto-off function that shuts off the device after two minutes of non-use. Dimensions are 81.5 x 61 x 37.5 mm (3.2 x 2.4 x 1.5”) and it weighs 64 g (2.25 oz.).

Unfortunately, I didn't test it before the return it date expired, so I'm stuck with a product that cost way too much and doesn't work according to their instructions.. :(

Is very ease of use and instructions are easy to follow. For those who are use to the old style of ppm total chlorine; remember this machine reads the free chlorine. If you have no prior experience with field water purification and testing or you work socking pools it won’t be second nature to you. For the later I know they will agree this is way easier. Also the reagent is a sold at a reasonable price.
