Keeps the sand out, but its not all its cracked up to be. I have to clean it weekly. That makes it useless to me!

Installed and didn’t last a month , no water flow thru it , not dirty , flushed gallons thru drain still nothing , took apart made sure nothing in it . Doesn’t work , no warranty

You can see in my pictures how this is falling apart. The filter inside is ripped and the mechanism that makes it spin is also coming apart rendering the filter useless. I am very dissatisfied, one would think a filter that costs as much as this one would last longer than 2 months. I would buy replacement parts but apparently there are none. If someone from vortopt would reach out to me I would really appreciate it.

I’ve used spin-down prefilters for several years to extend the service life of 5 micron water filter cartridges in my whole house water treatment system. The more gunk that can be trapped early, the less clogged the 5 micron cartridge gets over time.But… those other spin-down filter needed cleaning often. The debris would get trapped and simply flushing with the valve wasn’t enough. It had to be disassembled and scrubbed.This spin-down filter can be scrubbed without disassembling it or turning off the water. Simply rotate he bottom housing to clean the filter mesh. It still will need a more through cleaning at times, but far less frequently.I like the quick fit connection for the waste water when flushing. It’s so much easier to connect than the barbed fittings on the other filters which require vinyl tubing. This one uses the same 3/8 flexible tubing as reverse osmosis and filtration systems. Much better for my needs. (See pic)The flush valve is easy to use. (See pic)There’s a reminder dial for when to clean, and though I would not be using it, it is a nice addition. I keep reminders for maintenance in my iPhone.The box included the assembled spin-down filter with gauge, adapter couplings with washers, a short drain/waste tube, a housing wrench and an installation and use guide. (See pic)I’m not fond of the pressure gauge on the top. I really don’t need it, my system already has a gauge, but it only displays in MPa and not widely for use in the US. Multiple measurement scales are easy to provide on gauges and PSI should be included on this one.
