The process of water release:
As the soil dries, the ceramic cone delivers water gradually into the surrounding earth. Thereby create a vacuum within the cone which draws water from the nearby container of water. Once the soil is moistened enough, the watering stake will cease flowing water.
Operation:
1. Put the earthen part of the product into the water to soak for 15 minutes.
2. Prepare a water container filled with water (a narrow bottle such as mineral water bottle).
3. Make sure the pottery pieces filled with water, because the green plastic cover tightly with the pottery pieces.
4. Insert cone piece a little bit into the soil of plant.
5. Then it will automatically bring water into the other end of the container, and then water your plants.
Tips:
1. In order to water better, please keep the bottle watering device below the high end of the green plastic cover.
2. Please note the demand of each plants and pots size, and use the appropriate watering devices.
3. If it fails to water your plants, please repeat the above operation steps.
4. After months of using, the ceramic piece parts need to be cleaned so as not to affect the effect of continue-using.
5. Each watering stake works area approx. 15-20 cm / 6-8 inches in diameter, please add 1 more water stake when the size of flower pot is increased by 5 cm / 2 inch diameter area.
Note: Please make sure formation of a vacuum in stakes( If there is no vacuum, it is not work properly)

For these watering stakes to work, make sure you remove all the air from the hose, you can do so by attaching the hose to the stake while both are submerged to remove air from the hose. Keep doing it several times until no more bubbles come out from end of hose. Also, you can control the flow rate by have the hose end about 7.5 inches below the top of the stake, which will give you a flow rate of about 50ml per day.

dont waste your money and time on this product. very hard to use. need to adjust the height and position of the hose otherwise, it won't work OR can drown the entire pot by pulling too much water from the bucket into the pot. the hose is also too coiled to use.

Estuve un mes fuera de casa. Durante mi ausencia hubo un par de olas de calor tremendas y, aún así, las plantas estaban intactas. También es cierto que, a parte de seguir las instrucciones punto por punto, puse todas las plantas juntas en un lugar con luz, pero sin sol directo para generar un ambiente húmedo entre ellas. Lo seguiré usando.

One spike damaged, and inconsistent flow overall. Adjusted depth of spike and height of water reservoir, and still unable to achieve consistent watering. Spike soaked, primed, and purged of air as advised.

So I saw some mixed reviews of some people saying these work completely and others saying they didn’t work at all so I decided to take the chance. There’s some specifics setting these things up (the handful of YouTube videos get it right), but having done all the steps, my spikes continued to not work and fill up with air. I noticed that the brass fitting in the cap doesn’t seal properly, allowing air into the system rather than forcing the system to pull water out of the reservoir, so that has to be sealed with either superglue or epoxy - pick your poison. Just lift the brass fitting up slightly, slip some underneath, press it shut and wait for the glue/epoxy to dry. The hydrospike should then work.To the manufacturer: please put a dab of epoxy in the center of the cap insert before it is pressed into the cap. It’ll save us all some hardship.

J'ai mis les carottes 2 jours dans l'eau pour être certaine que le plâtre soit imbibé d'eau pour que ça fonctionne. Vraiment pratique . :)
