How the terracotta watering stakes work?
The plant watering device is made from terracotta clay. The clay stake is porous. When you put the bottle full of water in the stake, it takes a little while for the water to soak through the porous clay. If the dirt around the stake is dry, the water automatically wicks from the clay into the dirt, and the water keeps wicking out into the dirt until the dirt is saturated with water, or until the bottle is empty.

i was sceptical about these but i stuck one in the dirt and filled up a wine bottle and it worked. i should have probably soaked the clay first but i wanted to see what happened.
