I was looking forward to receiving this controller ..I checked the reviews as well as online . A friend has one of these and I’ve tried it ..it was a pretty solid replacement for the aging turbo grafx controller…so I got one ..I was happy .. the run button worked .. ( it was the main reason why I needed a replacement ). Turbo switches and buttons check ….i missed my tg-16 ..so I plugged it in .. Then the problems started … popped in R- type (the best). . couldn’t move up or down or anything .. WTH !! Jerky movements if anything …then, I Tried splatterhouse .. couldn’t move at all .. blazing lasers … same thing! Totally Useless .It’s a sturdy controller , I’ll give it that ..and it felt really good in the hands .. but that %#€!+£¥ D pad !!… that’s the most important part of any controller ! Never again ! Requesting a refund ..

The built quality of the controller on the surface is pretty good. It has heft and a quality (and very long) cord. However, this is a controller with one job and unfortunately it fails for one reason. The buttons are clicky and do not feel the same as the originals, but they are doable. The select and run buttons are just fine. But the D-PAD is horrible. The D-PAD is not hard to push as stated in some other reviews. The opposite. It is is very easy to push...maybe too easy. It feels mushy but OK and does handle diagonals fine which is good. But, it does something I have never seen in a D-PAD. If you push a direction to hard it stops registering! For example if you play a game such as Bonk and you are pushing right and walking right, if you push down on the D-PAD a little more Bonk will stop walking. So, you have to make sure you push down on the D-PAD at just the right pressure. Too little and the character will not move. Too much and the character will not move.Never have I seen this in any controller in my life and this issue makes what otherwise would have been an excellent replacement a controller that is completely worthless. I don't use controllers constantly mindful of how light or hard I am pushing on the D-PAD, and I am not about to compensate for this poor controller design. It's going back. Sad too as we only have two third party options for TG16 controllers. This one is bad and the other one does not fair much better.

The controller itself is slightly thicker and perhaps more ergonomic with its bulge in the grip area than the old original NEC controllers. On top of that, it comes with an adapter to allow you to fit TurboGrafx, Duo, or PC Engine in the box. Once I started playing games, everything was effortless and exactly how I would expect an original controller to behave.I do wish the front design was more Turbo or PC Engine-like to add a little nostalgia to the experience, but from a pure functionality standpoint, this is great. Release a TurboStick next, Hyperkin!

Came with a 10 foot cable, hefty, feels good in the hands plus the buttons feel great and responsive. The only reason I didn't give it a full five stars was the price being a little high for a wired 3rd party controller. Should be 20 bucks max. There's not enough here to warrant a 30 dollar price tag in my opinion. Being wireless 2.4ghz or bluetooth enabled would have made it an easier pill to swallow at that price point. Still not a whole lot of options for TG16 and PCEngine pads out there so I bought it anyway. That 10 foot cord is nooice!!!

This is a very nice and strong controller. It actually has a bit of heft to it and quite comfortable to hold. One of the first things I noticed about it was how thick the cord is, which also happens to be 10ft long plus the length of the adapter if you use a PC Engine. This controller fills a pretty nice gap in the market for controllers. I had looked for an authentic one for several years but they are rare and expensive. No worries now because this controller works just as you would expect.I suspect it can also take a pretty good beating. Whoever packaged my controller did not pack it adequately as it only had a flimsy bag over the regular box which had been crushed by the time I received it. Fortunately the controller took no damage and worked perfectly. Now I can get rid of the crummy PS2 to PC Engine controller adapter I have had to use up until this point!
