Live Alive [1986] is an essential blues album compiled from four live performances by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. The performances were recorded at the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Austin Opera House and at Dallas Starkest, along with some studio overdubs. The song selection for Live Alive displays many of Stevie Ray Vaughan's biggest influences: Jimi Hendrix ('Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)'), Stevie Wonder ('Superstition'), Howlin' Wolf ('Commit A Crime') and Buddy Guy ('Mary Had a Little Lamb')

Simply awesome live compilation from a few SRV & Double Trouble shows from the late(ish) 80’s. I had this on cassette many years ago, but this vinyl pressing has made my day and it arrived two days early...... Although the ‘Live at Montreux’ is probably a better span of their career..... this set shows a raw side to the sound of a truly special and influential blues artist. The beautiful gloss finish on the gatefold works really well, excellent liner notes and record sleeves. As with every listen of anything from SRV I am left wondering how enormous he would have been had he not died so tragically and so young. A must have if you are a blues fan. Thank you Stevie and Double Trouble.
