Have 2 of these for my parrot cages & they have been able to stay on the cage even with the birds picking at them. These seem to be the only bottles they can't undo or take apart the allow the bottle to drop on the floor and smash - I have African Grey's as they are smart, able to take things apart in no time flat!Even though I need to keep an eye on the holders and sometimes tighten the screws as the birds are out and play on the cages, so they are able to pick at the bottle holders.Expensive but great product! Would highly recommend.

I used it for my indoor aviary. Hence need to modify the brackets as the one provided is only suitable for cages. But still, durable and great product. Even my conures use it apart from my Macaw considering the large nozzle size

Mounts on a wall. Clip that allows removal of bottle is hard to use. There must be a better way. Breeder trains all their puppies to use this thisrather than a bowel. Cleaner plus keeps dogs face dry. Price is shockingly high

Bought this for our Maltese as her water bowl would get dirty after one day. With this she has clean water all the time, and we only have to refill it once a week. Our cat has a water fountain which she used to love drinking from, but now she won't use it anymore. She saw our dog using it, and taught her self how to use it. Kinda hilarious seeing her use it for this first little while as she would lick it too hard, and her tough would get caught on the lip. She's fine now, no more messy water bowls.Since this is meant to be mounted on a cage, I made a simple walnut wood stand for it only using some of the supplied parts. did an inset with a router to catch any drips. Doesn't drip when it's static, just due to messy animals. The size is good, not sure how much a larger dog would drink (ours is 6.5 pounds, and the cat weighs the same).

I've tried a few water bottles in the past and my cockatoos destroyed them. Plastic bottles are quickly chewed through regardless of shape/size. Spring loaded metal tips don't last either. This is a gravity based unit that has a metal tube with metal balls inside with a heavy glass bottle. Nothing to break unless you drop them. That said, I wash mine in a metal laundry sink and I have dropped them in the sink a few times but no breakage yet they hold up well. I use two of them. One is over 15 years old. The other one is a couple of weeks old.

A hand full of pet parrots and a small flock of canaries own me, and over the years, I have had an assortment of finches and smaller lovebirds up through Cockatoos. Lixit is the only water bottle that I will ever use. I use the small plastic Lixit for my canaries, and all my other parrots have these glass water bottles in two different sizes, either the medium 16oz, or the large 32oz. My large eclectus, Lewis, aka Bubbaloo, aka Babu uses the 32 oz. size.Water bottles are sanitary as opposed to the open water dishes, which collect feathers, seed, pellets, treats, veggies, fruit, stray bugs, moths, poop, and anything floating in the air. Open water dishes are also an excellent breeding place for e-coli, just run your finger over the side and bottom of the water dish and I can almost guarantee that there is a coating of slippery slime, even when washed daily. These glass bottles are sanitary, nothing can contaminate the clean water, and there are so many benefits.1) Fresh clean water is always available2) On a warm day a glass Lixit water bottle filled with ice cubes and cold water, will remain cooler throughout the day. The water may warm up to room temperature by the end of a hot summer’s day, but it will not be hot, (unless the water bottle is in direct sun throughout the hottest portion of day).3) It is effortless to monitor how much water their daily intake is (unless they push the little ball at the end of the spout to take a shower, which occasionally happens with my conures and is amusing to witness).4) I have never had a parrot that was able to take the attachment apart, (and certainly not for the lack of trying, as some of my amazons and my eclectus are very active birds with very crafty beaks). Now first time users may have a little trouble putting the water bottle attachment on the cage, (it took me almost 20 minutes) but after this first trial, it becomes easier and faster (now I can do it in less than 5 minutes). Moreover, you only need to do it once, and then it is there… forever. These glass bottles are simple to clean, either use a bottlebrush or put them in the dishwasher, and the steel nozzles are cleaned and sanitized in the same manner with a wet bottlebrush up the tube, and after a few twists they are clean.I attach the water bottle to the front door of each cage, which is accessible for my twice-daily filling, morning and evening.I belong to a state certified avian rescue club, where we are called upon to take in ‘rescues’ and to foster. Every parrot that has been in my home for longer than a day, I have been able to train to drink water from these bottles. Birds are intelligent, and they catch on very fast, just leave a water dish with the water bottle for a day, and after they ‘catch-on’, the bottle becomes their preference over an open water dish.Just one word of caution, the end of the spout needs checking daily, in case they decide to push a piece of papaya, a seed, or even a pellet into the spout, which would clog their water access. Just poke a finger in under the spout and flick the little ball to make sure that the waterspout is clog free.
