The product was used as a deterrent for theft. With all the vehicles being stolen these days, it would take some time and effort to figure out where this is hidden.

Its a pretty simple device so not much can be said. It is solid, seems very durable, and well built. It should last for years even with lots of use. Turning the green knob is simple, but when turning it "on" make sure its 'hand tightened' good.

it was easy enough to install and worked well enough for what it was, but ive had TWO of these break on me simply from the pressure of being used frequently, the metal is so paper thin next to the knob that the first one snapped during installation and i just chalked it up to a bad casting or whatnot but no the second one broke too in the same spot, if you plan to use this for a lawn mower or boat or whatever and its going to be used twice a month if that then itll do but if this is going on your car and will be used frequently then eff these things just do yourself a favor and get the knife switch style

These have to be kept in a perfect straight line, any little tension on them and they snap in half like mine did, went with a different style and brand

The connections require regular corrosion protection; do that and they work well.No dead battery surprises anymore...

I have used similar products in the past and they work well but this one has several problems. There is nothing that holds the two halves together so when you loosen the knob the two pieces tilt and make contact. If you remove the knob completely the two halves come completely apart and the plastic insulator falls out. My other ones are crimped together so I bent the tabs in to hold them together which makes them usable. I think they missed that step. Besides that I also had to retap the threads and the included bolt is too long and bottoms out in the battery. I bought three of these and they are all the same. Terrible product!

I have these side disconnect on two different 80's and 90's GM vehicles, The do work, but they are not mading the best connectione because they are missing the indentations for locking in the terminals. You see on the batteries there are three or four indentation that fir with the 3 or 4 ridges which are on flat terminals of the vehicle's battery cables. All the car batteries have that which make it so one the terminals are screwed in they cannot turn. Because the disconnect switch does not include these indications on the side that the battery ground connects to and it does not have the 4 ridges on the part that connects to the battery, the round ground battery terminal will not sit flush when it connects to the disconnect switch. The ridges have no indentation to fit into leaving a big gap. So there is not a lot of contact and its just the smaller area of the four ridges touching the distinction switch. So that leaves a lot of area for moisture to get in. In other words one is just having a few ridged areas on the terminal connect with the battery disconnect switch and not the full donuts connecting flush means they just skimmed on design and tried to save money in manufacture. So before you purchase disconnect your ground from your battery and look at it. if it has a few ridges on it then I would purchase one of the more expensive switches that was made with more detail. Or you can try to find a new end terminal without the ridges and replace the terminal on your ground wire with that so it will be flush with this disconnect switch. Because of the gap this switch makes with your ground terminal, If you live in a rainy or wintry area all of a sudden you might your car stops running or does not stop. Because of corrosion and a bad connection.
