I discovered Mitsu-bishi pencils a few years ago and instantly fell in love with them. The writing experience is smooth as the lead glides across the page almost like pencil costing many more times the cost of these pencils (looking at you, Blackwing, you pricey other woman I can't let go) I try to have a box of these pencils, buying more when I run low. I tend to give them out to artist friends who have not experienced the quality of these pencils. They are a fantastic wooden pencil that always seem to sharpen perfectly with great lead at a great price. These Japanese pencils are what you should get if you miss the quality and excellence of American made pencils from years ago. The other 98xx pencils like the 9850 and 9852 are also a joty to write with

Die Bleistifte Modell 9800 von Mitsu-bishi (die gleiche Firma, die auch Automobile fertigt^^) erfreuen sich nicht nur in Japan großer Beliebtheit, sondern auch im Westen genießen sie schon fast Kultstatus.Sie zeichnen sich durch eine besonders weiche, tiefschwarze Mine aus, die ca. einen halben Grad weicher ausfällt als die Stifte von Staedtler oder Caran d'Ache.Bei den vorliegenden Stiften handelt es sich um die gute Büroqualität. Sie liegt ungefähr im Mittelfeld zwischen den günstigen Stiften und den mehr als doppelt so teueren Künstler-Bleistiften der Modellreihen Uni-Star und Hi-Uni.Wobei ich der Ansicht bin, daß sie sich auch hervorragend zum Zeichnen eignen. Lediglich die Lackierung ist einfacher und es gibt sie nicht in allen Härtegraden von H9 bis B9 sondern nur in den gebräuchlichsten vier oder fünf. HB ist die Standard-Härte, die sich im Alltag zum Schreiben oder für einfache Skizzen bestens bewährt hat.Die Stifte bestehen aus hochwertigem Holz. Sie lassen sich gut anspitzen und zeichnen sich durch einen weichen, gleichmäßigen Strich aus.Die Bleistifte kommen ungespitzt in einer Pappschachtel. (siehe Bild im Vergleich zu den hochwertigeren Hi-Uni-Stiften.

We bought these for our daughter who is always dropping her pencils. The regular brands break on the inside and you are force to keep sharpening until it doesn't break. These pencils do not break easily and that is why we bought them.

Not a fan of the hexagonal shape.. not as comfortable as round pencils. The led is much better than paper mate that’s for sure.

Code barre de l'étui de 12 crayons Mitsubishi 9800 : 4 902778 002629, du crayon : 4 902778 99035.J'ai reçu les 12 crayons dans un étui simple de carton, fin mais solide. Chaque crayon mesure environ 17.60 x 0.75 cm et n'est pas taillé (Cf. photographies client).De forme hexagonale, le crayon est en bois vernissé. Il est agréable en main et se prête à une bonne qualité de taille.La mine graphite n'est pas trop grasse. Elle glisse bien sur le papier, procure une sensation particulière de douce tendreté, sans pour autant s'effriter, s'écraser, encore moins casser (de l' expérience d'une main plutôt légère).A titre comparatif, le trait du Staedtler Lumograph H.B. est moins intense, plus homogène, ferme, net et précis. Je le trouve assez performant pour l'écriture : un peu plus ferme, il glisse bien, nécessite des affûtages moins fréquents. L'intensité d'un Lumograph B. se rapproche d'un 9800 H.B.J'ai voulu explorer d'autres mines, par curiosité et tout en recherchant un rapport qualité-prix raisonnable. Moyennant six euros vingt la douzaine, le 9800 répond à ces critères. Sa conception, l'assemblage de ses matériaux sont de très bonne qualité.

As an engineering student, I am continuously on the search for a cheap, smooth pencil. These pencils meet and exceed all my expectations. In fact, the only negative aspect I can think of is the lack of an eraser on the end. However, as I thought about it more, I understand why Mitsubishi made this decision. I never use the attached eraser anyways, as they never do a good job. This lowers production costs and allows them to focus on making a better pencil, which they did.The lead is HB so you might not be able to get away with using it on standardized tests but it is perfect for homework, writing, drawing etc. Its tough but smooth and requires little effort to transfer to paper. It sharpens well and feels very sturdy in construction.A fine product that I heartily recommend!
