You pick up a screw on the floor and wonder, "What kind of screw is this?". The pitch gauge is just one tool to help you find the answer...Would recommend.

Very precise. It's nice that the pitch is stamped on the leaves and not etched like the cheaper versions. If it's your first set of pitch gauges you're buying, it will be the last set.

I use this tool to measure threads on bolts for my mechanical work. It is a precision tool, easy to use and accurate.

I read that this set of thread gauges were made to check whitworth threads (bsw)but they only have gauges for metric and standard..which neither are helpful to me at finding bsw thread pitch..

I had never bought a Mitutoyo product before. Now I'm impressed. The retail photo provided for this product is inaccurate by showing black plastic knobs instead of steel. Since I prefer steel, there's no complaint. The machining quality is great. Numbers are easy to read because they're stamped into the steel, and not etched like lower quality tools usually are.Mitutoyo also provided an excellent value with this tool, in addition to their renowned craftsmanship. I chose Mitutoyo over Starrett because quality was comparable, but price wasn't. Starrett cost a few dollars less, but also provided about half as many leaves. The tool came out of the box sealed in a plastic pouch and was coated in a thin layer of oil.

I own multiple thread gauges - some metric, some SAE, some Starrett, some unbranded. This single Mitutoyo gauge has a broad selection of leaves (which will probably accommodate every size I'll ever encounter) and is nicely made.The best feature is that it contains both metric and SAE so I'll always know that I've got exactly what I need when I pick up this single tool.The one I received is made in Japan where the quality and attention to detail is top notch. Finally, I'm a long-term 45+ years Starrett customer, but have been disappointed too many times in recent years by poor quality and workmanship. Starrett is living off a diminishing brand name at this point - very sad.

we had this in the department for years and worked quite well. I ended up with a different company and didnt think twice when choosing a thread pitch guide. this is the best hands down. high quality. ill buy more from Mitutoyo. Im a HD mechanic, and have to work in all environments and this has survived flawlessly.
