Application on hexagonal shaped shafts

Replaced crank on a broken drill press
Yes, this customer specializes in woodworking.
He used to extend the drill press by placing a wider plate on the table.
After the extension, every time the plate of the drill press was raised, the crank hit the underside of the plate and could not work.
He eventually removed the ready-made crank and moved it up and down with a spanner, but after finding our item, he decided to use it with a reduced torque distance than before.
In the end, he raised the plate with his left hand and turned the wheel crank with his right hand, and was very satisfied.

The greater the distance between the center and the outer shell, the easier it is to work with high torque.

Works great for a 20 quart industrial mixer

As this is a ‘universal’ fitment hand wheel there will be some trial and error to get this to run concentric with the shaft. Happily there is a concave feature inside the wheel that will aid alignment with the shaft (see photo). Personally I would attach, make the screws nice and tight for an initial fit, then remove and use a file or grinder to create flats where the screws marked the shaft. This will enable the wheel to transmit significantly more torque, and help to ensure it remains attached.I tested on a case hardened lead screw, as the other photos depict, and found it very comfortable and smooth to operate.I intend to use this on a clay slab roller I am making, and this will require much more torque, but I am confident this will perform very well. I like that there are also 3 hex socket grub screws provided in addition to the hex bolts.Please note: They are metric, you will need a metric Allen key set. Will definitely look to these hand wheels for any other projects I have!
