Great sturdy tools. I suggest plastidip or duct tape around the ends to prevent scratches. I just used these to open and shut a 10g captive bead ring with no issues.

It's cheap but works. The "closing" tool won't even come close to closing 8g down...just a fyi

As other reviews have mentioned they pliers are not great quality. The closing pliers seem especially cheap. They also caused a small nick in my ring. They seem like a low quality stainless steel. They will work to help open a CBR for an upcoming CT scan I have, but I think I'll upgrade to larger better quality brass jaw pliers when I up my gauge and ring diameter next month.
