This is a much smaller mattress when packed than many competitors because it folds lengthwise and then rolls, but it is three inches thick when inflated and not four inches. This takes hours to self-inflate. The first time it took a full overnight, after that it is a about four hours. I bought the small OneTigris electric pump and find that it works great to both inflate and deflate for packing. With a cot it makes a very comfortable bed. Very comfortable. Have not tried it on the ground or on the floor of a tent all night, and it might be a little thin for that application. I did not find the bag inflator worth messing with. It works but the pump makes all the difference, and I would say the pump is a necessity with this mattress.Update; I found that it does self-inflate reasonably rapidly after multiple uses, and I did use it on the floor of a van and found it to be great. Self-inflation is not sufficient for use. The pump bag is an ingenious design but I still use the electric pump. The electric pump only needs about 30 sends to pump it up, and about one minute to vacuum it out. Overall, really an excellent pad.

I've owned a couple different mattress pads and I thought this one is by far the best one. The mattress is about 3" thick that is lightly foamed giving it the extra bounce and soft comfort that I preferred. When it is folded in the bag, I thought it was pretty compact and it was smaller than a typical sleeping bag. It might just be me not operating it correctly and may take a few tries but I didn't think it was fast inflate/deflate at all. Instructions can definitely be improved to make it more clear and easy to understand.

Very comfortable. Seems similar to some 4 - 4.5 inch ones I've tried but it packs much more compactly.

This is my favorite sleeping pad that I've ever used, and I've used a few already. It doesn't have an out gas smell on the outside. It is nice and soft and has a great material. It is thicker than others I've used and doesn't have ribs or anything, just a nice soft layer. Super comfy! And the bag pump is ingenious! I love how easy it is to fill the pad and how neat the bag/pump is when all packed up. I love it!BUT there are some things that you should know:1. First of all, I have never used a pump system like this so it was really hard for me to figure out how to pump this pad up. The directions are abysmal, and there is not info online either. This was super annoying. But for others that need some guidance, I will add it to the end of this review and so, that should not hinder one from buying this.2. I like that there is not an obnoxious off gas odor, like many items these days, but if you are using this inside your home, and you don't like chemical smells, take it outside when you empty the air. Easy fix!3. I wish that the item could just be rolled up afterwards but it is meant to be folded once and then and rolled up. And it is not super easy to roll it up tight enough to fit back in the bag. I may have even ruined the bag closure/pump bag trying to jam it in and if I didn't, I can imagine that it won't last given what it has to go through. That said, it is really cool how it fits into its own bag that can be used as not only storage but also a carrying case. And that the bag is actually the "pump". And I like the elastic bands that make it easier to keep rolled. And I believe it that even if I have ruined the closure it can still be used as a pump, just not as efficiently.4. Maybe I'm slow but I can't imagine this being filled up in just a couple minutes and 2-3 pump sacks (unless it's extremely windy out lol), which is what the company advertised. That said, it is easier and quicker than any other sleep pad I've used.BUTregardless, still my favorite so far!How to use:(I'm assuming...cuz this is how I was able to use it)1.open up the valve on the sleep pad AND pull out the orange thing (I don't know what this is, so maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I couldn't get it to pump with it in)2. attach the storage bag "circular plastic opening" to the pad's opening, just plug them together3. let the storage bag naturally fill with air from the the bag opening4. tighten and roll up the end of the bag until it is just a bubble of air5. push down on the "bubble of air" until it all deflates into the sleeping pad6. repeat until full.7. then disconnect and screw the cap onto the sleeping pad opening.
